Good point. If we count the presidents who've used prison slave labor in some form, it's probably 100%.

Not to detract from the point, but isn't nathan j robinson a weirdo of some kind?

True, although I'd make a distinction between using slave labour for the ends of the state/capital e.g. firefighting, stamping license plates, and purely personal gain at your residence

If being a self professed 'socialist' while union busting dressed as a dandy is weird then yes

Anyway here's a non-NJR source https://www.newsweek.com/hillary-clinton-prison-labor-african-americans-arkansas-622209 there's others out there as well

Hilary also discusses it in her book It Takes a Village

reddit-logo "Extremist Subreddit Chapotraphouse call for the execution of 1/4 of All US presidents"

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 51 points 1 day ago (1 children)

rookie numbers, i call for the execution of 100% of all US presidents, if not for slavery then for genocide and war crimes.

[–] Pieplup@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

definitely higher than that. for one prison labor is legally defined as slavery. Two, do you really put it above some of these shady corrupt mfers to have trafficked illegial slaves.

Ulysses was certainly an American because he was raised by an abolitionist but was himself kinda like shrug-outta-hecks about slavery despite fighting for the union. Literally bought William Jones (his slave) from his father-in-law to build a cabin and then freed him like a year later. Why Ulysses?? Why?!? You could've had an (relatively at least, if you ignore the whole native american/dominican republic portion of his presidency) untarnished

Well and the jewish thing. Doing a pogrom is generally considered a bad look.

I gotta break out Margaret Kimberly's - Prejudential: Black America and the Presidents book and reread the chapter on him.

I'm considering removing all html tables currently in lemmy bc of issues like this. No one wants squished or side-scrolling content when like 90% of us are on our phones.

On the other hand, making it into an image as in the post here is probably worse for accessibility...

[–] edge@hexbear.net 5 points 22 hours ago

Definitely worse for accessibility.

Lol I can see it now.

Tables are very useful. If a large table is inconvenient on a phone, just ignore the post or pull it up later on a computer or tablet.

A lot of data being presented as a table is too dense to be reading on a phone in the first place, no matter how you present it.
