Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

My Buff Orpington laid this one yesterday. She often lays "oddly" textured ones but this is the weirdest by far.

Aw, in just a few weeks it'll hatch into a beautiful baby scrotum.

Lemmy see if i can find some pic i took a few years ago. Gonna edit this comment in a minute.

Here ya go. This was laid by a fully grown chicken that usually laid completely normal eggs.
Comparing against my hand this thing was something like 3.5cm long.

What's it like living with low-resolution hands?

Its very easy to cut yourself on the sharp edges but you learn to live with it.

Our latest addition to the flock has just started laying. They are sooooo cute!

Normal egg for scale

One of our (Brahma) chickens lays eggs like this. She also walks with a limp.

What in the heck is going on with the hands? xD

Fingerprints... because we live in a society sadly :(

O! We have one that occasionally lays tiny eggs as well. I'm not sure which one it is because they share nesting boxes but a tiny egg shows up about once a month.

These ones were free to walk around the farm but they always returned to their own specific nest box at night :)

There is a backyard chickens sub Incase that interests.

I had an egg similar to this last week, wasn't sure why, normal before and after but just one egg.

[–] MontyGommo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Do you happen to have a link to the sub? Always have more time to talk about the ladies!

[–] clif@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Looks like I had already joined it but forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Speaking from experience?

Reminds me of when we took our boy cat in for neutering. The vet commented that he had a lovely set of plums on him. I said if she liked them she could have them and received an elbow in the ribs from my wife.

Oh nooooo the eggs have breached Lemmy! 🥲

You spelled ate wrong.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago

I cannot be convinced that that is not Silly Putty.

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Did they poo out two eggs at once? Whenever my chickens form two eggs at once, they smoosh together and come out like that.

[–] clif@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

No, just the one. Most of the time the eggs this one lays are a little wavy towards the tip but this one is a bit crazy.

[–] savvywolf@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago

This is what happens if you eat too much fibre.

No trans people clowning in these comments? I'm disappointed.
