the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.

The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.

Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

So based on symptoms I've been having over the past couple days, I'm 90% sure I have a detached retina

I swear my own body hates me

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If its been over a day you absolutely must go to a hospital, detached retina is like...they will rush you through the waiting room cause every second counts. If you've waited this long its probably too late to fix a lot of it

Something in my home has been smelling like new tires for a few days now and I can't figure out what it is. Should I be concerned?

Hi nerds, I have heard many times that dnd players should switch to Pathfinder. I've played DND 5e for about five years and have come to dislike some things about it.

So I looked at Pathfinder, only the first couple of sections of the rulebook, and it looks like character creation is a lot more limited then 5e. Languages, ability scores, lots of proficiencies are based on race, and for some reason races can only learn certain limited languages. I saw that there seems to be a lot of choices for class abilities, which is cool, but i dont like the way races are handled.

The main thing I want to change about DND is that I think combat sucks. There are no interesting decisions to make beyond attacking the enemy. Progress is made by making a number go down, and the fight is exactly the same until the number hits 0. Healing is done completely after an 8 hour rest, so fights feel very inconsequential.

Does Pathfinder have a much better combat system? That's the main thing I want to get out of this. I don't have time to read it all rn

Pathfinder 2 really benefits from a good vtt. Foundry automates all the little +1s and helps it flow much smoother. Once your in the swing of it though I find it does make combat much more dynamic. In general, unless your character has some way to mitigate the multiple attack penalty you'll want to attack only once and also do something else like flank or intimidate. The bonuses you get from that kind of thing are deceptively more useful than you might expect coming from 5e because of the degrees of success mechanic. Every +1 is not just five percent more chance to hit but also to crit. Also there are alternatives rules that let every ancestry choose their stat boosts like a human does.

I did a thing with some of my friends and the most I got out of it was frustration with the system. It runs on a 3 turn system so like theoretically you could say do three attacks but mechanically you get penalized after the first and bad things could happen on a failed roll. It all amounted to a lot of bloat and thinking well what else should I do with my extra actions. The assist function where you could do something to help a team mate out would be cool is it amounted to anything significant. I honestly did not have a fun time with it and much preferred 5e tho I think the meta is everyone saying pathfinder is better

[–] Moss@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sounds interesting, but yeah bloat is another thing I'm worried about. Combat already grinds everything to a halt when you have to roll dice and add modifiers and check ACs and DCs and change HP and keep track of spell slots.

Deadlands has a similar system where you can declare a multi-action at the start of the turn, and take penalties to each action you do. Seems like an interesting concept, but if it just amounts to a player missing twice in one turn instead of once, then it doesn't add much.

That's another big problem I have a with combat, a failed roll just does nothing. You miss, try again next round. It's boring for the DM and so frustrating for the player.

There the star wars system I forget the name but I did have fun with that one. You get successes and advantages. Sometimes we'd get a whole lot of advantages and no successes and there are rules to use those advantages for some neat things like the enemies lose a line a sight on you or heal up on stress or some abilities converting like 4 advantages into a success. Honestly worth checking out it's more theater of the mind but I remember having a lot of fun with it even when my character started the campaign as a support droid

I remember hearing once that we can get a feel for something by looking at it and visualizing licking it and yeah I think that's pretty accurate but if fails to contend I can't do this for the sun. I can't get a good feel on what the sun feels like and this is upsetting me greatly catgirl-cry

Huh, apparently there's some twitter groypers that think China is committing genocide against the Uighur's, and that it's a good thing because most Uighur's are brown/muslim.

Everything does 2 damage in silksong because its a rushed game

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 4 points 23 hours ago

I do think the early game will end up getting tuned down a bit, but you get used to it over time and the game really forces you into using tools and Hornet's full mobility in combat, rather than being able to facetank like in Hollow Knight with some enemies.

[–] GeckoChamber@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago

I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid to work less with enemies that only do one heart of damage per hit

Put it back in the oven for 7 more years

sorry i am late. quick update on my life:

same thing. i still have the job. i was insulted for working slow when i am waiting for them to help me. and if i try to do things on my own i fear breaking everything. also the systems slow down to hell and back and if i try to get calls i only get shouted at i hate my life i wish all this never happened

the first month was nice, people took turns to do calls and emails. every morning we talked. was nice. until production came along

i hate my life i wish all this never happened

when will i get paid

edit: i am looking for new jobs as we speak. i hope i can also move out so that my family won't bother me ever again and i can get therapy and fix myself to become the betterest person than the person y'all know me as.

attempted to find python junior dev (but i'd need to relearn python lol, big rusty), romanian to english translation and the most probable of all: linux sysadmin. my friends think i am a linux wizard or something, and that job could be fine i guess
