Maybe health company can disclose ALL data so if you have cancer supermarket can charge you more? I mean you won't need the money anyway.

Somebody tells McKinsley

These bastards will steal wallets and jewellery if they see someone dying on the street. Fucking ghouls.

They'll commit every evil imaginable if the reward is profit instead of retribution. There is no bottom.

Capitalism would sell children to pedos... Just ask Trump and his best friend Epstein.

Back in the day, there was a bereavement discount you could get if you asked. Sure glad they put a stop to that, the shareholders would be furious!

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't think they've stopped that. I'm pretty sure it's still a thing.

When my grandmother died and I had to fly out for the funeral, American Airlines said they don’t do it. I called their AAdvantage customer service line.

"Mildly infuriating?” If people aren't actually enraged, it's because we're already drained.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 30 points 3 days ago (2 children)

They already do. Book months in advance, like you would for a vacation, is normally cheaper than booking last minute for a funeral.

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 8 points 2 days ago

I'll be sure to ask my mom to die in 3 months from now so that i can get my seat on a plane. I's supposed to be that you give the airline a copy of the death certificate and they allow you to fly for a discounted rate.

[–] addie@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

Exactly this. I needed a day return on short notice the last time I had to take a flight for a funeral, so that would be business price for tickets rather than leisure price. About 10x price difference, but there was no alternative if I was going to be there.

As always: “if a headline ends in a question mark, the answer is ‘no.”

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 22 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sure it is!! Get them when they're grieving is what me pa used to say! 👍

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I remember him well. He would never have stolen from a dead. He would always have waited and charged the inheritors an inheritance fee (+ grieving fee).

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Exactly! It's nice to know he still has honorable friends in important places. You are a good friend, Donald 🙏

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago

PS: did you get that invoice I sent you last month? 👀🤞

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I miss him. It's so sad he got shot in the stomach at work... 🙁

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

... he ran a crematorium and a funeral parlor... ✝️🙏

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Apparently the deceased lost a tooth during transport...

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

... when the family noticed they were all like "he had 4 golden teeth, they can't just fall out and get lost"... 😒

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

... my dad even suggested to open the deceased up, maybe he had swallowed them? For a little fee he could help them out 👉👈🙏

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

But they didn't seem to appreciate his help, at all 😭

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Some customers are just born to be rude and abusive 😤

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

By now, we as a family are pretty sure the deceased never had any gold teeth to begin with!

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I mean, why else wouldn't they want to retrieve the teeth?

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

My ma would bet one of her precious necklaces, she's that sure there were no fake teeth to begin with, God bless her 💞

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Legitimate? Yes. Shitty as all fuck? Also yes.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

In a framework of nihilist moral relativism, of course!
