  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media. Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the primary mod account @EuroMod@feddit.org

Does he know about Vietnam?

[–] kunaltyagi@programming.dev 4 points 6 days ago

He had bone spurs. Maybe that trauma caused him some form of memory loss

[–] talkingpumpkin@lemmy.world 119 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I wish people stopped voting complete morons into power.

[–] Roflmasterbigpimp@lemmy.world 53 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't worry! They found the biggest idiot there is (at the moment) and as promised by him, there will be no more elections!

[–] ganksy@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (8 children)

Will he just start an energy drink company and use it to water the fields already?

Trump would blame France and Poland for being attacked by Nazi Germany at the beginning of WWII.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He would, because Trump is in love with hitlers love letters

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He stated he had Mein Kampf as a bedside read, but I doubt he reads.

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I can only recommend anyone speaking German to listen to the German-Turkish Comedian Serdar Somuncu reading from "Mein Kampf". The book is in large part incomprehensible gibberish that was mostly dictated by Hitler to his close friend Rudolf Hess while Hitler was "imprisoned" with many benefits after his coup attempt. There is sentences that have just been shortened with "etc.-" as Hitler must have rambled on without Hess able to keep up.

Somuncu is not only mocking the entire book, but also a lot of the absurdity of Neonazis idolizing and the German societies mystification of it.

Let’s not kid ourselves, we’re one flu sickness away from Trump being mad at France for invading Ukraine.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 65 points 1 week ago (3 children)

By that logic the American patriots in 1776 shouldn't have taken on the British Empire.

Well, my bad, Trump and logic don't mix.

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 37 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If i remember correctly the Americans had a lot of help from the French who wanted nothing more than reduced british influence in the world.

Almost as if we should be pumping Ukraine full of military hardware to reduce Russian influence on the world

[–] magikmw@piefed.social 13 points 1 week ago

But Trumps KGB handler wouldn't want that.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I believe they kicked off all on their own and the French help came later but I am a bit rusty and not American.

[–] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

not American

No need to brag

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Lolol. Got a good laugh out of that one. Cheers.

Trump blames 12 year old he raped for dressing too sexy.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 4 points 1 week ago

Hey now, it's not his fault that they looked like his underaged hot daughter.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

She was 13. Trump said on the Stem show that he wouldn't rape a 12-year-old.

too bad he dint do the due diligence in failing him.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Kind of sad now that you mention it. The current situation is a direct result of a long line of people who were afraid to say "no."

Sure they may have lost their jobs, lost their own next elections, or whatever. But plenty of people had the opportunity to say "no, this guy's a dumbass, he didn't pass this class" or "no, this guy is being used by the Russian government, we should tell the public" or "no, this guy tried to blackmail Ukraine he shouldn't be president" or "no this guy tried to overthrow the government" or "no this guy raped a girl" or... well you get the point.

The list goes on and on forever. Often in those cases a single person in power could have stopped this crazy train but chose to pass the buck.

[–] Justas@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

This is the reasoning behind "the broken window policing": if you do a small crime and get caught, you are less likely to do a bigger crime.

[–] Hexagon@feddit.it 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How dare they defend themselves?

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 1 week ago (3 children)

That is, no joke, what Trump is suggesting. "Russia is 10 times your size. You should have just given up."

This is the logic of a bully.

Trump sees arms as power and expects fealty from anyone he perceives as "less than" him.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They hate it more when you punch back.

You're not supposed to do that. If you do that

Well

Don't do that! It's your fault for punching back!

This is the logic of a rapist.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

he doesnt realize most of russia is uninhabitale,

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago

I'm sure that's what he tells the kids just before he proceeds to do the rape thing.

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 1 week ago

How dare poland attack german empire AND the soviets. Are they stupid?? /s /j

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 18 points 1 week ago

Quite an experienced shifter of the blame.

[–] nothrone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Trump is and always was absolutely stupid. But I wonder if he even knows that it was Russia that started, that Russians are the agressor. I mean, maybe people tell him but he is just so demented already that he simply forgets. Maybe his dementia doesn't allow him to understand the idea that there is an aggressor and a defender?

I would really like to see someone sit him down and talk to him like a grown up, cameras rolling. Ask him what year it is. Ask him what is happening in Ukraine. And don't accept answers such as "a very bad thing is happening in Ukraine.". Those are copt out answers by someone who is probably completely lost. Go deep. Ask him what is the bad thing? How did it start?, etc.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 3 points 6 days ago

I think it's simpler than that. To him defending yourself is taking someone on. Might makes right mentality.

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

I mean in landmass yea, but it's just 4 or 5 times the size by population. Not that I'd expect Don to check his math....or perhaps know what math is

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can we all finally agree that there is no more politicking to be had with the US while Mr. Paedo Douchebag's in charge?

10x size doesn't mean 10x the patriotic support from their people. I wonder what the body count and equipment damage of Russia vs Ukraine is, not including the innocent civilians Russia has killed.

*Looks like Russia lost 1 million as of June 2025, but can't find anything on Ukraine.
