Sorry Israelis, but the passports were promised to the trash bin 3000 years ago so unfortunately there is nothing we can do

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago

Sometimes passports just do that

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 60 points 1 month ago (2 children)

why the hell did hotel staff have their passports? I feel like we're always taught to keep our passports in a safe place and not to let someone else take it (unless they're inspecting it). Like this is the kind of thing that human traffickers do.

Exactly. These tourists may as well walked around wearing shirts that said "traffic me". You don't just give your passport to people.

A lot of hotels in Europe hold your passport when you check in.

WTF. Why?! If someone asked to keep my passport I would be expecting an abduction van to roll up at any point. What reason could they have to take your passport?

In Cuba, the "casa particular" hosts would just check the passport and log it in their logbook (Cuban govt. requirement). Which I guess is the same thing. Weird that they would do it for any extended period of time though. But maybe it just takes too much time and there's to many to do it immediately on check-in.

Yeah I've stayed in those. In China they just photograph the passport

Gravity is hamas catgirl-salute

[–] whatdoiputhere12@hexbear.net 51 points 1 month ago (1 children)

oh wow it actually did just fall in the trash. Before I thought they threw it themselves and cried

amazing how literally everything hates israel, from gravity, birds chewing on the flag and that wildfire earlier this year

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

If that's not a sign you're not in divine favor, I don't know what is

[–] LeninWalksTheEarth@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i have so many questions though. All 50 passports were in that bag that fell in the trash? why the fuck would they all be kept together?

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why did the hotel staff have them in the first place?

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Some hotels collect the passport of tour groups and put them all in a central safe to prevent passport theft

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

The hotel is so close to the top of the list of organizations I’m worried about scamming me or fucking me over when I’m traveling, that sounds absolutely insane to me

[–] btbt@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That’s where they belong, I don’t know why people carry passports for a fake country around. At some point these folks need to grow up and stop playing make believe, gravity just made it easier for them

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago

Good belly laugh at this. My passports! zionist-despair

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That is some act of god event. Thought it was an euphemism initially.

Shit after hearing how some migrant workers are abused in countries once they give up their passports ain't no way I'm giving them up like this

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 23 points 1 month ago (2 children)

When I’ve travelled out of the country I’ve kept my passport on me basically the entire time

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

Even in very safe spots. I've seen the headache of losing a passport or travel documents. Its a sleepless ride

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Same. I would have one of those bags that go under your shirt for that. I get paranoid about being stranded.

Isaac Newton did not condemn Hamas.

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 18 points 1 month ago

The Israelis also belong in the trash. 😎

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Too bad the Israelis didn't fall in the trash

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

those passports were hamas

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I feel like it could have still been set up that way on purpose but idk.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I will note that it's quite reckless on their part to leave their passports in that position even if gravity had some help. Sometimes the universe is just funny like that though and no setup happened at all, such as https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Fjm4a5XU15s (did not vet the uploader)

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
