I got a plain black case without a window. I used to have Razer KB+Mouse but after a deathadder and viper died I'm trying a logitech mouse, the matched RGB was nice at first but I lost interest in it.

Why is almost everyone in this thread just talking about rgb? The OP directly says that this isn't about rgb
I hate the gamer aesthetic, and I won't buy a product that adheres to it (unless its an internal component for my PC because i have an opaque case anyway). Rgb lighting can be nice in moderation, as long as it is truly customisable.
I haven't bought anything pre-built besides an Alienware laptop a decade or so ago, so, I have absolutely no idea what OP is talking about with:
- crystal-facet enclosures
- overall showiness
My cases are clean and I guess you could see the font on the video card if you looked into the case, but, the RGB just shines out and you don't really have a reason to look in. The other two gaming systems I have in the house, I disabled the RGB and again, I'm not looking into the case frequently, so I don't know that tacky fonts even register on my radar.
Keyboards/mice - again, RGB is all that's really noticeable and that can almost always be turned off.
So, my guess is people don't care for OPs prompt, but it kicked off their desire to talk about the only bit that is actually noticeable and that's the RGB, if they didn't disable it.
ETA: And that's assuming people actually read the whole two sentences that OP wrote and didn't just stop at the title.
I have to assume that there's some kind of wilful ignorance going on because these kinds of products exist at the high and low end of the market
Though I agree with your ETA.
Examples of products that fit this edgelord epic gamerz aesthetic:
Noteworthy that it is not the presence of rgb that makes these fit the bill, though it is usually present. Its the hyper angular, edgy, kitschy nonsense
My case is all black, but almost everything these days ships with RGB if itβs a modern gaming part. I set them to the lowest brightness at a dark purple so it barely shows. Anything more than that is too distracting for me.
I think a lot of people like the customization that rainbow RGB more than anything else.
I like my stuff hidden anyway so I don't care all to much. I disable leds usually because they are distracting but keep one solid led to indicate whether the system is on or not.
Yes, though not to the extreme.
I don't really prefer it. I just buy gaming mice because they have more buttons and disable the RGB.
I fucking hate RGB. Not only because it's not well supported in Linux but because I sleep in the same room as my computer. I won't buy components with RGB if I have the choice.
I don't really like it, but sometimes those types of cases are the only good ones with radiator clearance in a relatively small footprint.
I still miss this one, it was all metal and very close to an Apple G5 case, minus the compatibility issues.
Unfortunately, this case also couldn't support radiators in any meaningful capacity, so I had to sell it. Currently using a Lian li case that I dislike, but it has damn good radiator support, and my PC is now completely silent.
Just purchased a new PC and was surprised it didn't play Donna Summer when I first booted it up.
I really could care less what it looks like. It just needs to be functional/practicle
I spent a few $1000 on the computer, Iβll spend $100 more to make it look fancy
I like some of it, but not everything. Customizable is good, but if it's all preloaded and unmodifiable then it's more a mockery of self-expression, isn't it?
I fucking love it, how I get to have a subtle moving pride flag on the side of me. Have trans colours on my kb.
got a pc with a good deal. First thing I did was electrically cut off all unnecessary leds
i am a non-serious gamer, and I really don't care. i'm looking at the game, not the computer or console.
Some like it and some dislike it. A lot of it can be changed or turned off anyway, so most just pick what they like.
Then there are the RBG-phobes. They talk about it like it's the devils work and seemingly get upset if other people have it in the privacy of their own home.
i want plain computers back.

They still sell Antec π€·
Apparently lemmy attracted all the boring bastards i guess. You all must have gray walls, a black desk, and a plain black box for a pc tower and think its peak.
I like splashes of color in various ways in my home, my pc is simply an extension of that. Theres ways do to it tastefully. Grab a Fractal case, set your fans to a solid color.
I got fractal design r6 because itβs dampens noise quite well. There was an option for a glass panel, but I got the solid one instead because it insulates sound better.
Personally I donβt care for the trend that is RGB EvReyWhERe!!1!1! MoRe!1!1! Especially in what amounts to pretty normal cases. Just a box with a bunch of bolt on lights and fans. Yay?
I far more admire a computer where someone has taken the time to actually invest some customization that took skill. Bending watercool hard tubing around a hand made or modified case. Lights are fine for accent or drama, but not as a misrepresentation of uniqueness or effort.
so uh i built my gaming pc in an old Lenovo Think tower. no tempered glass or RGB. i just want it to work idc how it looks
I'm fairly photosensitive so I disable a ton of extra LEDs and cover up some necessary lights (monitor power buttons, caps/num lock indicators) with dimming stickers to make them easier on the eyes.
The only exception is the computer itself. I enable very dim lights on the case, mobo, and GPU which switch between Green/Blue/Red depending on CPU temps - it's nice way to quickly see how much stress my PC is under.
