Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I hate crunchy cookies. Chewy or death...or just no cookie I guess.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Crunchy cookies are only acceptable if they soften when dunked in milk.

[–] Beebabe@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

I love all cookie textures. Idc.

Hear me out

Crunchy outside with chewy inside

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I passionately disagree. Crunchy can be dunked

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My fav dunking liquid is coffee. What's yours?

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Coffee! Although I will also dunk in tea

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Tea is also a delicious dunking liquid!

Then it's a biscuit (UK style).

That's your opinion and it's wrong

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

False dichotomy. A cookie can be chewy without being melty.

Right, that's their point. Chocolate chip cookies can be made to be chewy when cold instead of crunchy, in which case they're still much better than crunchy chocolate chip cookies.

Agree to disagree.

What's a melty cookie? Like temperature warm so the chocolate is melting?

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

~~Why not both? Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside.~~

Edit: wait what do you mean by melty cookie

i make cookies all the time and the key is to cook them for 2 minutes less than the recipe calls for because they'll keep cooking when you take them out and they'll be just the right about of gooey and soft <3

[–] scytale@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Crunchy is fine as long as there's a generous amount of chunky chocolate chips.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

my favorite is a crispy one that for some reason seemed associated with christmass.

The idea cookie is the Subway double chocolate chip, microwaved for 7 seconds.

Warm gooey chunks with a crisp rim. The best of all worlds.

Honestly Subway should give up on their C- tier sandwiches and focus on what they do well.

I sometimes deliberately leave them to sit in the open for a day or so. Makes them less crunchy.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Still better than oatmeal raisin.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Anything is better then the cookie that deceives you in to thinking it's chocolate
