5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials or celebrity gossip is allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
7. No duplicate posts.
If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I'm a naturalized citizen btw, but I still don't feel safe (I'm not white).
I'm white AF, and my family has been here since the 1650s on one side, and 1720s on the other side. We literally funded a decent portion of the revolution. I'm still scared. They are coming for everyone that isn't them.

"Blitzkrieg" is literally "lightning war", and just refers to the style of offense the Germans used against other European countries in WWII, which was largely responsible for their early military success.
Armies at that time relied on stationary positions and slow logistics, horse-drawn carriages for a large portion. The Germans just blitzed into France, through the Maginot line.
Which makes me wonder whether the current idea of MAD holding off war isn't as deluded as relying on the Maginot line. I sure hope it isn't.
Anyway this is more just fascism in general. A fast rise in authoritarianism. Not "war" in the classical sense, although it certainly is basically war.
1/4 is like 85 million people. some people are saying they aren't concerned since they're citizens but given what Trump has done, that can be stripped away at literally any moment

I have a some very close friends who are Venezuelan. They all claim they aren't worried because they are citizens, but I'm not so sure. The MAGA Nazis don't respect Birthright Citizenship, they certainly aren't going to respect naturalization.
Bottom line: If you were born somewhere else, they want you gone.

ICE has deported at least 70 US citizens (Source) The actual number could be wayyyy higher though
If that’s the bottom line, the fine print is that the elected American government wants you gone if you aren’t white. They don’t need to work on that layer yet.

I am involved with a youth organization with my kids. We’re a very diverse group and so several of my kids friends are very precarious right now. I know at least one who carries 5 forms of ID everywhere outside of his house.

Nearly everyone close to me voted for Trump. I fucking hope they get deported.
Most of them are in denial. Every time I bring it up to my friends they're all like "yeah, but they won't come after me."
I left because I knew they'd be coming for me sooner rather than later. I'm a trans immigrant. I honestly kinda regret my citizenship because it's keeping me chained to the reich even from abroad.
My daycare closed for a day so they could get their passports "just in case". This shit is infuriating.
I have a friend from the Philippines who is in school to be a nurse. When this started, she was scared this was going to affect students which did end up being true later.
The videos all over the internet expose everything. I can't imagine what it looks like from a normal country on the outside.

How the fuck only 1 in 4? Youre living in a straight up fascist dictatorship. Anyone can be deported at any time for any arbitrary reason. How is not every single person scared as fuck?

Anyone who thinks that protesting will stop this is an idiot. Hypothetically, if you wanted to stop this, either you put on a FULL ON general strike, not 200,000 people, but 20 million. Or you go and get your guns, and start driving the fuck over to your state capitol, or better yet, the WH.
It's not just protesting though, we use it to train and organize people so later we can respond when the time comes. We need a diversity of tactics which is why I don't criticize how people protest anymore, as long as you are causing good trouble then you are not the problem.
