Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

ok, it's at the bottom of its own gravity well, but that well is in a galactic gravity well, which itself is in a local group well and well, it's swell where we dwell, but bloody hell does it smell.

You found you were going and just couldn't stop, right?

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

it was like eating a single Pringles chip.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

That's a bad analogy.

Unless you are implying that you could stop.

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was just implying that it was impossible to stop once I got going after the first rhyme. you're right; not the best analogy mate, sorry.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 3 points 1 day ago

Naw, it was clear what you meant. Don't mind the peanuts.

With all the explosive energy in the sun, it's definitely a power bottom then right?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 30 points 2 days ago (4 children)

If you mean because the sun has gravitational force on the Earth, wouldn't there be at least one more bottom at the center of the Milky Way? The sun spins around that doesn't it?

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Yeah but the sun is our bottom ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But showing my bottom is called a "moon". 🤔

[–] s08nlql9@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

If your moon touches another moon, it's called moon landing

The Earth is where my bottom goes when I slip and fall.

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Does that make people with solar panels “bottom powers” or “power bottoms”?

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

...comrade.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 12 points 2 days ago

It's bottoms all the way down.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Today OP is learning about a "local floor"

This is also the same sort of thing that brings us the terrifying concept of False Vacuum Decay

[–] ddub@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago

you could say the bottom is the Great Attractor

[–] Pronell@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Now that is a good shower thought!

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

The tabloid? In a birdcage?

Agreed.

[–] raynethackery@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Now look up and realize you are actually looking down and technically falling towards it.

The sun is a radioactive ant? Move over, Peter Parker.

The enemy's gate is Down.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

It’s definitely a bottom feeder even among the red-tops.

until it expands and eatsbthe planets before it implodes.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And then when we get down there, way down at the very bottom of everything, oh we'll see it, oh we'll see it, we'll see it!

[–] Donebrach@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Praise be the Time Cone, for at the bottom you run out of time. Glory to Mankind.
