Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
"We've stood for years at the western edge of Europe feeling as though the rest of the continent has stood between us and the enemy," he told those at the conference.
Implying that it's always been understood that they're an enemy.
The uk has air defences?
Keir Starmer fires unemployed people out of trebuchets in the vague direction of incoming missiles
A poor substitute since Brexit reduced the supply of Fr*nch.
they create a sort of chaff cloud over the island by firing all of the unused spices into the air which confuses the missiles' radar/tracking
Thousands of magic nannies flying through the air on umbrellas
Yeah. Coupla big lads scattered across the coastline, ready to lob their empty strongbow cans at any incoming missiles. If that fails, there's a reserve of inbred nonces that shoot clay pigeons on the weekend ready to shoot the missiles down.
As long as Russia doesn't send anything larger than a baked bean tin fulla gunpowder, TERF island'll be in the clear.
Looks like they need another billion for the war industry!
our island is dangerously under prepared for a land border invasion!
Memes aside, nobody has successfully invaded Britain since 1066. It's been almost a thousand years. At this point, you'd have to be stupid to try. Even without the most sophisticated defense system, they're more trouble than they're worth to invade. Why they freak out over some Red Dawn scenario where Russians occupy their cities and overthrow their government is beyond me.
1668, not 1066. Everyone forgets orange billy.

Posting Topic: The UK simulated an attack on its own air defenses based on the first night of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It wasn't pretty.
Everyone forgets orange billy.
Some of us don't forget Dublin teachers. "William III of Orange, also known as King William III, was King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and the Prince of Orange. He played a significant role in the history of Ireland, particularly during the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the Battle of the Boyne in 1690."
"I confess that I do not see what good it does to fulminate against the English tyranny while the Roman tyranny occupies the palace of the soul." - James Joyce, "Ireland, Island of Saints and Sages," lecture, Università Popolare, Trieste (27 April 1907) !JamesJoyceExperience@lemm.ee

This is not just a story about social psychology and data analytics. It has to be understood in terms of a military contractor using military strategies on a civilian population. Us. David Miller, a professor of sociology at Bath University and an authority in psyops and propaganda, says it is “an extraordinary scandal that this should be anywhere near a democracy. It should be clear to voters where information is coming from, and if it’s not transparent or open where it’s coming from, it raises the question of whether we are actually living in a democracy or not.” - https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/07/the-great-british-brexit-robbery-hijacked-democracy
