Having cards doesn't make it a gambling game. It's also not even really a card game from what I can tell, you couldn't really play it with a normal deck of cards.

Also poker is totally fine if you are not betting money on it. Played it all the time in my teens. Just give everyone 200 tokens at the start of the game. The tokens don't represent any actual value.

I did consider getting some poker chips recently but saw it would be cheaper and more space efficient to just use real currency. Start off at £2 each, bets like 1-5p or so. Everyone puts their coin pile back into the central piggy bank at the end of the game.

Yeah. Same game, reskinned cards and sold at a much higher price and can't really play anything else with them. Then over time they add other gimmicks like some ewaste that throws cards on the floor for you and makes the game cost 30 times as much as a pack of cards.

Calm down. Uno doesn't resemble gambling. Balatro is gambling coded through and through. The whole PR stunt they pulled is clever:

"We totally don't want anyone gambling. Here is a game based on poker that also involved some luck".

Where do you think the line is that a card game becomes gambling then?

I would have said its when you are playing a game for stakes that have a real value that persists after the game is complete, so when 4 go in with £5 and 1 leaves with £20. Clearly your definition must be different to that.

If it teaches gambling and has slot machine makeup, its close enough to gambling that kids should not be exposed to it.

I mean look at the big picture. Anonymous Dev created a casino experience with poker at the core, but they changed the money to points. This same Dev is promoting several other games such as "slot machine deck builder" and "blackjack deck builder". Please look at this from higher up. Something slimy is afoot.

You can gamble on horse racing too, would you also ban children from watching horse races? Without going into the specific ethics of horse racing its self and just should children be allowed to watch if adults can.

Slot machines have a very distinct look and at best I could the small blind, big blind and boss blind columns indicating the 3 columns in a slot machine, but if that's the thing then any game with 3 column separate 3 choices has a slot machine makeup? If you meant the game somehow uses slot machine iconography I don't, I really don't know what to say then. It would be completely delusional.

Actually the core was Big Two, which makes far more sense than Poker as you're not limited to 2 cards and can play multiple hands.

This same Dev is promoting several other games such as “slot machine deck builder” and “blackjack deck builder”.

That's just bullshit. In fact it's so bullshit the dev has publicly opposed gambling.

Please look at this from higher up. Something slimy is afoot.
