How can they justify unpaid mods when the sub is paid?

I can't find a link, but I saw an article the other day that said /r/assholedesign was going to be one of the first in protest of the move.
No existing subreddits will be affected by this according to the post I read when this news was first announced, so unless something changed...no current sub will be paywalled.
But it'll probably be something stupid like a crypto bro sub and porn.
Have you tried asking on Reddit? Or searching the internet? Why are you posting this as a question on asklemmy? This seems like one of the worst ways to get that information

The porn. Right now the porn subreddits are mostly advertising for subscription sites like OnlyFans, Fansly, Patreon, etc. Reddit definitely thinks they can stop being used to advertise subscription sites and just become one themselves.
But there is so much free porn on the internet already

You can use your browser's desktop mode to avoid the whole app thing. Works best with "old.reddit"
thier app just datamines you harder. apparently they have additional priveleges that can easily identify your device to ban you more easily
They will start with the porn. That's where they'll get the least pushback. Then it will spread to all NSFW subreddits.

The goal is to indoctrinate people 10-30 with these values so if anything, it will be promoted to the front page more often and free. More eyes= more conversions.
Who cares?
I login to lemmy often enough that I would notice. Lemmy grew a lot overnight the last time reddit pissed off a lot of their userbase with one decision. There's good and bad to that, it was nice to see this place grow, but it became much less friendly when redditors flocked here. I'd expect more of that.
Interestingly, often times it was the old users who were the most toxic as a result of this, aggressively citing Eternal September and going elitist.
So, we can do a lot to prepare on our end.
Private subs for celebrities probably
The porn, probably.
r/politics, r/news, and any adjacent subs that post similar content. because these 2 types of subs are the major engagement in reddit. followed by r/pics, funny, askreddit. bots make up half of the comments on reddit too.
Reddit is already paywalled with your privacy.

I would pay not to see that sub. Joking wouldnβt pay a penny to Reddit. Why would anyone.
