I am very new to Lemmy, and I am using the Eternity app. But I am wondering which one you guys are using, and maybe there are better one's than Eternity without me knowing

Voyager with the Android theme enabled, it looks quite nice and feels more polished than other clients

I'm using thunder because it's the best of what I've tried.

[โ€“] Catfish@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 16 hours ago

I like Jerboa because it's very straightforward and has no frills.

[โ€“] golden_zealot@lemmy.ml 6 points 22 hours ago

I used boost until I saw it was sending me dark pattern ads from an ad network, to which the dev had noted they reported it, until it happened again and I moved to voyager, where I no longer have such a problem.

seconding Connect, it Works

[โ€“] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 2 points 18 hours ago

Yeah third for connect, and tbe creator is super responsive and genuinely tries

[โ€“] saigot@lemmy.ca 1 points 23 hours ago

I use boost, I like it's swipe view. It's mostly just what I was using with reddit and there's no reason to switch.

[โ€“] DeadNinja@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Jerboa sorely lacks the absolute basic feature of searching for keywords in posts. It only supports searching for community names. I can't think of any other app that does NOT support general search.

So Voyager for me, mostly because it has the most active developer.

[โ€“] Chulk@lemmy.ml 2 points 21 hours ago

I had to switch away from Jerboa because it would crash any time I'd create a link with custom text in my comments. I switched to Voyager and it's on lot more stable.

[โ€“] beSyl@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Ya, not supporting full search is weird..

And also, there is only one font size for the whole thing, ui, comments, posts, etc.. Not good..

And other several minor things. Other then that, it is awesome.

Thunder, it's really good

[โ€“] AstroLightz@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Voyager because it looks and feels like Apollo for Reddit (RIP BTW)

[โ€“] Cassandra3MadScene@lemm.ee 1 points 21 hours ago

My Apollo still works for browsing somehow

I'm using Voyager too!

[โ€“] tyrant@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And it seems to be the most trustworthy when it comes to data imo

[โ€“] flightyhobler@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

Exactly why I picked it.

Me too. Voyager is a fine name but there was something dumb/charming about the name Wefwef.

Boost. I used it on Reddit, continued to use it through the mod workaround, switched to Boost for Lemmy after they shut that down yesterday, and now here I am.

[โ€“] Opal@lemm.ee 2 points 18 hours ago

Same, but you can repatch boost for reddit to work again. Check the boost Lemmy sub, it has a pretty big post on it.

[โ€“] nigh7y@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago

I also use Boost.

The only thing I think it's missing is a seamless way to open other instances' homepage.

[โ€“] antyk@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

literally my story

[โ€“] ankanamoon@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago

Same, boost layout is just so clean. Sad I couldn't keep my ad free existence from the other app but guy deserves to be paid.

Raccoon.

It's the one that stuck after trying them all for a long time.

[โ€“] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

oh cool it's The Thread

use sync

[โ€“] sanderium@lemmy.zip 27 points 2 days ago (8 children)

I have tried almost all clients on Android.

Best In my opinion:

  1. Thunder
  2. Jerboa
  3. Raccoon for Lemmy
  4. Voyager

To me thunder has the best UI and UX overall, even though I prefers the "card view" feed from Raccoon and some functions of Jerboa.

[โ€“] zippythezigzag@lemm.ee 1 points 16 hours ago

i agree. Thunder is the best. It's even better than paid apps

[โ€“] Spaniard@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Yep, tried everything and Thunder is the best for me.

[โ€“] ALiteralCabbage@feddit.uk 7 points 2 days ago

I've moved from Boost to Thunder. It's a great experience so far.

Jerboa. From the Lemmy devs and works great.

[โ€“] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 17 points 2 days ago

Voyager

Excellent app

Eternity

Infinity was my favorite Reddit app and I saw that Eternity existed, so I switched to it the moment it releasedits first alpha. I see no reason to use anything else unless it breaks and is no longer maintained.

[โ€“] beSyl@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

For those that use Voyager, is it possible to remove the bottom bar?

... You need that bar to navigate between settings, inbox and feeds etc.

Been using Thunder for a year.

[โ€“] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago

Jerboa. Of the ones I have tried, it feels the most like Baconreader (RIP) to me.

[โ€“] jasep@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

I like and use Thunder. It's cross platform on iOS and Android so I get the same consistent interface from my iPad and my android phone.

[โ€“] RagnarokOnline@programming.dev 14 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Damn, Iโ€™m the only one using Mlem?

I just use the mobile browser. I use Mull for that.

[โ€“] davel@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

The Mull browser project shut down along with the rest of DivestOS. You may want to consider IronFox.

Eternity is a solid one, was my main for quite some time until I used Voyager while waiting for Eternity to to update to work with the latest Lemmy at the time, and ended up sticking with Voyager.

I do miss the user avatars though, voyager doesn't have those.

Jerboa hits that same sweet spot that RIF did.
