Hey all, it's your local teacher/cashier/meat-deprtment-closer.
I returned to Arizonas Hometown Grocer after a short leave of absence. I work in the meat department , taking apart and cleaning the cutters and grinders while taking care of the customers as they pass by the Meat/seafood department.
Anytime someone passes by I say, partially out of requirement , "hey how's it going tonight? " or something like that. Most people are pretty nice about this very rude presumption of mine that they would want to be acknowledged in a grocery store.
Some people not, so much.
One older Asian gentleman comes up to the seafood department. Him being Asian isn't important to the story, but "it's a detail , so why leave it out ?"
I greet him with a "hey h-"
He interrupted me as if I'm a used car salesman -
"Don't you forking sell me anything !"
Enter malicious compliance.
I know this guy. He comes here all the time. He tries to come to the meat department to ring things up at our register because he knows that SOME of the meat department employees blindly accept this man's crazy fake coupons that are like twelve dollars off of filet mignon or whatever.
He doesn't remember me, or maybe he does who knows. But I know that I'm going to follow his instructions. I won't sell him anything.
He takes the meat he usually tries to get and stacks his coupons on top.
I say "sorry sir we're not allowed to ring those coupons up and you said not to sell you anything Anyways right?"
He yells back at me in unrecognizable language and never cheats us again.
