Looks like that SDF is unmanaged? Saw some stuff about that recently, but i maybe wrong I already blocked it anyways

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Just to clarify it isn’t unmanaged. Tbf they seem like a solid community. I don’t doubt that the past 24h have highlighted some issues for their admin team to deal with. I think it’s more prominent because most major instances have gotten on top of similar problems, so it harkens back to when lemmy was more “Wild West of the internet” in nature.

It certainly seems so to me. They haven't responded to my reports in 8 months and their abuse email points to a broken SMTP server

Isn't it just one user?

@Mikal8871@lemmy.sdf.org

Aside from not tagging, community config issue?

[–] uranibaba@lemmy.world 10 points 10 hours ago

That user looks to be banned now.

That’s the one! They’re pretty spammy too with the frequency. Yeah it’s both because you can see the inappropriate community icon too.

It is a new community, so that's part of it.

W/config I actually meant it probably should be nsfw by default. Though no idea. It's not an nsfw-specific instance so it could also be an issue.

Alternatively, this could be an instance-related protest. The context with that being: there is also an anti-trans poster on that instance and people are complaining about the lack of an admin response.

This is why I don't browse "all".

[–] _____@lemm.ee 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

well... what do you browse ? all has like 2 hours worth of content for me a day at best

[–] Yingwu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

My subscribed communities? Yes, there's a lack of content in general but I'm content by filtering what I'm interested in. I'm not on here all day

[–] Rogue@feddit.uk 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

How do you find communities without browsing all?

[–] Yingwu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

I try to find communities named after the same subreddit, and I subscribe to trendingcommunities@feddit.nl which I can recommend.

[–] rbn@sopuli.xyz 13 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 51 minutes ago) (1 children)

I do it a lot to find new interesting content and communities. I just block all communities that I don't want to see in my feed. It's not too much TBH. Maybe one new community per month or so.

[–] Yingwu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

Same here! I never used /r/all on reddit either. Just found places organically and sometimes intentionally.

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 3 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Unfortunately a lot of people do; though on Lemmy it’s a far from perfect experience currently.

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 6 points 12 hours ago

Yeah even post tagged nsfw are coming through despite my having my feed set to filter all nsfw. Only from SDF so far so don’t know if this is more sdf drama/trolling.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I've seen lots of people mad at sdf recently what they do?

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

A person defining Nazis as evil lefts, hating on trans people and "wokeness" created several communities and posted in them.

People reported the user, communities and posts but it seems the instance is abandoned (no reaction from their admin) and things are escalating now.
