Having an innocuous conversation about dogs in the mega earlier when someone dumped their violent fantasy of what they'd do if a dog attacked them in there. Same vibe

Had a similar spat of annoying interactions on my effort post about pitbulls and racism "Wow you comparing black people to animals how racist" no mother fuckers I was pointing out with exhaustive sources about how shit like pitbull hysteria and breed specific legislation have been proven to enable new forms of redlining and are born from the same sort of bioessentialism used to justify a number of other forms of bigotry.

I've posted this before on fedi, but "aggressive dogs" get divided up into two categories:

  • That dog is spicy so I will stay away (eg. German Shepherds, various livestock guardian dogs)
  • That dog is spicy so you should get rid of it (eg. bully breeds, rottweilers)

I really, really hate when you try to compare a bad thing to racism and someone says "oh so you're comparing [bad thing] to racism?" Yes! Yes I am! Because two bad things don't need to be exactly equal in magnitude to still be comparable.

It's not even just comparable it is literally part of the superstructure of white supremacy. For example a dog is more likely to be identified as a pitbull if the owner isn't white. It also is used to sneak in scientific racism via the argument that they are genetically predisposed to aggression and violence.

I got attacked by a dog once so I can tell you what I know I'll do. I'll say "oy quit it you rascal!" Which was not my expected reflex, but it worked, so...

Their metaphor works, but it is a little gruesome. Or you can just go at someone with a blunt object and hope the xyphoid process does the rest.

Stabbing someone in the heart is also gruesome, so I'm not particularly put off by it
