That would kind of mess up the businesses that rely on slave labor in the US. I don't think he'll be allowed to do it.

If our reality was a miniseries - this 8th day of Trump's presidency would been happening episodes deep because Trump is moving at warp speed. A batshit amount of batshit stuff has already happened. In another episode or two those in power would remove Trump in public by an assassin's bullet or secretly by a method injecting him with an undetectable substance that kills him. The powerful would rest easy because President Vance would be in line with them and their thinking. Also - it's a simple tie-in. President Trump is the first miniseries. President Vance is the second.

Putin judges Trump a greater liability than asset then hires mercenary ninjas with 007-esque dart guns. In the season finale Trump is shot and disappears. No one knows if he's alive or dead.

We Schrodinger's President our way through season 2, Vance adolescently rejecting living in the shadow of Papa Trump. In the season finale we find out that he's Antifa. He's summarily shot by a small town private in the US Army. AOC is caught in the crossfire and takes a head shot. Then, the ghost of Reagan returns to tell us what to do, but not until season 3.

Also, the communities that have lots of their workforce employed in prisons and get to count the prisoners as residents on the census for funding purposes.

I swear to god, if Peavey moves production of the 6505 from China to fucking Greenland so they can go back to exploiting US prison labor...

The first two paragraphs

President Donald Trump, speaking at the House Republican Retreat in Doral, Florida, suggested Monday that he wanted to fly American criminals to other countries who will incarcerate them for "a small fee."

"I don't want these violent repeat offenders in our country anymore. If they've been arrested many, many times, I want them out of our country," Trump said. "Let them be brought to a foreign land and maintained by others for a very small fee as opposed to be maintained in our jails for massive amounts of money including the private prison companies that charge us a fortune. Let them be brought out of our country and let them live there for a while and see how they like it. You'll see crime all over the country dry up."

Incredible

private prison companies that charge us a fortune

I didn’t think I’d discover a new kind of Guy in a Trump speech. A Guy who’s against private prisons, not because of the terrible profit motive, but because the prison companies are making too much profit

When MSNBC was covering Trump's fascist power grab - their Pentagon reporter talked about how the funding cuts could impact the military. And she spoke Trump's own plans for space weapons could be interrupted. Talk about guns and fucking butter.

I have no doubt that some MSNBC viewers are actually more concerned about stuff like "troop readiness" and goddamned space weapons than they are by the simple reality that if the funds aren't available there will be total chaos all across America and millions of regular, old Americans - like their neighbors - will face hardships.

"Let them be brought out of our country and let them live there for a while and see how they like it. You'll see crime all over the country ~~dry up"~~ absolutely skyrocket.

[–] mar_k@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

the worst part is your average american is brainwormed enough to unironically agree with this, even down to the moving prisoners out = less crime part

Is that meant as a detterent? Where could you even send them that doesn't treat their prisoners more humanely than the US? Isreal?

I hate every single word in that headline. GOddamn I hate the penal/criminal "Justice" system so much. I think people often overlook/forget just how much our prisons are nightmare factories. They only produce bad and worse outcomes.
