Boy if I ever happen to become president I'm gonna do sooooooo much shit that's "for national security." Apparently it's a cheat code that means rules don't apply anymore.

The billionaires are threatening the very existence of the United States. For the sake of national security we must...

That's an interesting read of the opening statements and questions. The questions for the Tiktok side were very much trying figure out where the speech lays and if strict scrutiny applied.

The questions on the governments side included "why are you using this 'covert' angle, its not working for me." Or "you think the American Public isn't aware that China is involved? I think they know that..." Or "You think China is trying to make Americans argue with each other? If that's true they must be doing a great job" also "if were saying Bob is a bad guy, and that Bob needs to stop talking, we don't know what Bob is going to say tomorrow, we only know what he's said, so it's not about Bob, but what Bob is saying, which is about content, aka speech."

I'm paraphrasing. Thomas opened up the first question to the solicitor by asking them to define "covert" and had to ask it three times before he got a clear answer.

Its also true that the more conservative justices had very little to say over all to the solicitor. It's very likely the solicitor has less of a hill to climb here.

Anyway, Tiktok is making it very easy to switch to lemon8 and even will move your subs over and auto subscribe to them when they make accounts. Maybe check it out. It's basically Instagram.

Huh, I thought lemon8 was a scam app that was advertising heavily on TikTok. But it's also Bytedance?

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

They have direct integration with tiktok. When you launch it and have Tiktok installed it can use your tiktok account to create your lemon8 account. It will ask if you want to follow the people you follow on tiktok, and if someone isn't on lemon8 yet it auto follows them when they migrate.

It says on the main screen "powered by TikTok". And yes, its a bytedance company.
