Every day, I hear people at work complaining about mistreatment from management. Yet no one brings up unionizing for fear of reprisal. That shouldn't be the case.

You should start the union

Unions aren't something that just happen to your workplace. Consider taking CODE's free organizer training and make it happen.

Yes! That's how they can unionize now.

It's about damn time. That EA Widow post came out two decades ago. We've heard nothing but repeats of the same insane working conditions across dozens of major studios since then

Yo, who tf downvoted this?

Thankfully the workers and unions pushed him out of the company through collective action

Next step, unionise EVERY SINGLE LABOUR related job!

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

But that would mean that the ~~slaves~~ workers would have rights, and we can't have that! Think about the shareholders! Line 👏 must 👏 go 👏 UP!!

Very wise move. EA and their ilk have been crunch timing people to death.

Making a career change from an industry with several active unions (all of which continue to be proven as vital, even after over 100 years), into the tech industry in the mid-2010s, where there was no union and you'd hear horror stories (especially from the video game industry), I can't help but feel like this was inevitable and I've been excited to watch it happen for almost 10 years. I hope it continues.

Do it!

Google next!

They spend decades bitching about crunch and being fired right before game released but only now figured the solution lol

Google workers actually launched CODE when they formed a direct-join minority union called Alphabet Workers United.
