Just people dying in the moment?

[–] 2ugly2live@lemmy.world 50 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I remember telling my mom I'd make a good Spinster, just hanging out at home, doing needle work. She laughed and said, "You're black, you'd be a slave."

"A woman can dream, mom!"

More than likely, you would not have been a knight, you would have been a peasant working the fields for your short life before dying of some incurable bacterial infection when you got a cut on some of your farm tools.

I see what you're saying

And it's correct

But

A lot of people also long for the relative simplicity and predictability of peasant life.

What is the entirety of the cottagecore aesthetic if not a longing for that? (well, that and a hint of racism but y'know y'know y'know)

One of these literally shows a dead soldier in a field of flowers so, yeah.

It's idle longing. I could give up my career, move to a deeply rural area, and break my back doing menial jobs until I die of health complications at 64. I won't, but it's nice to long for the imagined simplicity sometimes y'know?

Pretty sure you aren't born to battle to a senseless death for a greedy overlord. You're born to exhaustion hunt prey and gather seeds and roots

Naw, me and 63 of my closest friends are going to kill this massive hairy thing and eat the good parts, then kill another one. They can't run out, can they?

I am interpreting the top half as play fantasy games all day and not actually live in olden times.

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 5 points 2 days ago

You obviously don't play chess. It's called horsey, not knight

Some people think I'm stupid just because I tend to say stupid stuff. Turns out I actually know things

Wikipedia is full of libtard bigots. Even Musk hates them, that's how biased they are.

O know it’s a mem, but: conveniently leaving out the part that results in the last picture

Isn't it gay for a man to touch a man's butt, even if it's his own? #superstraight

Real men never go between the cheeks.

Born to be the tribe's nightwatch.

Forced to wake up a 5 AM because my company's HQ is in a different timezone than me.
