Why would you be surprised? Why are so many people really believing that there's some mythical good core of the Republican Party?
They're all Nazis. They supported a Nazi who wants to install himself as dictator for life. At this point, there are no excuses. Everyone who didn't want to be a Nazi had 8 years to leave the party. Everyone left is a fucking Nazi.
Stop expecting Nazis to have any morals.

Yeah this is the thing. Those undocumented immigrants aren't watching TV collecting social benefits. They're grinding away doing the jobs no one else wants to do.
Public Religion Research Institute shows that 46 percent of Republican voters support using the United States military to round up immigrants and put them into camps.
At the same time, Jones expressed cautious optimism given that overall support for using the military to round up immigrants remains low for the time being.
Is 46% considered low? I mean anything above 0% is fucking monstrous.
46% of republicans, but close to 0% of non-republicans, so it's less than 46% overall support. But obviously one person in support is one too many.
They're considering 26% to be low. There's 46% support for military round-ups and internment camps among Republican voters compared with 26% among all voters surveyed.
46% of a party that’s slightly less than 50% of Americans.

0% of anything is more often than not an indication of bad polling versus actual public opinion, but the poll shows that three-quarters of Americans don't support the idea. The 46% refers to Trump supporters specifically. A group within a group, and honestly is lower than I'd figure for Trumpists
Always assume that at least 10% of polls are bullshit, from people not understanding the question, the poll, the answers, or people just screwing around, or intentionally choosing funny/ridiculous answers.

Some people who would answer literally anything else are going to choose 3 simply for the lulz.
It actually says 46% of republican voters, but I do get your point.
I always use the thirds rule, roughly a third of all voters are head in the sand Republicans. This is the MAGA crowd. Any time I see a survey about US politics, I look for anything beyond 33% to see what the "regular" Republicans represent. In this case, about 13% of regular Republicans would support the measure.
When I see polls like this gain ground beyond that third, that's when I know the MAGA message is starting to seep into the "regular" voter.
If a third of Republicans are the die-hard ones and 46% of Republicans support it, then the 13% excess over 33% is divided up between 2/3 of all Republicans ("regular" ones). So it's more like 20% of regular Republicans support it.
They also say 75% oppose it over all. That's all political identifications. The 46% number is Republicans only and likely the highest support number in the study. Another Headline would be Majority of Republicans Do Not Believe in Using Military for Law Enforcement.

Question about the numbers generated. As i understand it, ~50% of republican voters were in favour of the measure where republicans make up one third of the population. So this means 15% of the US population is in favour of the measure? Is that right?
If you polled 1941 Germans about whether they support death camps for "undesirables" you might have gotten similar numbers but they still wouldn't do anything to stop it when it happens.
This is enough popular support within a ruling party with control of all branches of government to do it. What percentage of the people who don't support it would be willing to abandon the party if they enacted it?
There are always a few independent and Democrat voters who also support it. Not many, but you'll always find a few. Article says around 75% are against it overall.
Oh, it's not The Onion.
Yeah, There have been many many warnings about this over the years but people don't seem to want to listen. Politicians just want to campaign and there's no room for the designated loser in a campaign. Nobody in power is trying to protect them anymore.
Sadly, these figures don't surprise me.
