I'm enjoying it, too. But, let me tell you why these creators are cowards:

Since Return of the Jedi everyone has been obsessed with the blue elephant pianist, Max Rebo. Max Rebo is canonically an Ortolan, the only one we've ever seen- but we've never seen his lower half so everyone is asking the dire question: Do Ortolan have legs? Neel is also a blue elephant person but has been explicitly stated that he's NOT an Ortolan because they are too AFRAID to answer this burning question the fanbase has wanted- NEEDED to know for decades

I could have sworn he canonically plays piano with his feet and in fact has no arms.

Oh no I have outed myself as one of those fans.

The puppet in the movie was built to be that way but I think in a comic or something in the 90's they showed him as having arms and legs which kicked off this VERY important subject of debate

He's got those sucker fingers

not falling for this one again

I like the idea but there’s way too many kids on that promo poster for me to not think it’s made for the alphabet learning demographic and I can’t allow people to see me watching it

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only 1.5/4 kids are insufferable which makes it above average for this kind of project

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Which one is insufferable, it’s not baby Max Rebo is it? If that one’s insufferable I’m not watching

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

No, he's the best. The 'main' kid Wim is the worst, but it's the point that he's obsessed with Jedi stories but only sees the adventure while each of the other kids embody the Star Wars ideals of empathy, thoughtfulness, and leadership so they as a team are a moral ideal

Star Wars came out in 1977. Imagine what we could have done if we hadn't wasted our time making more and more of these stupid movies

So true! We probably would have had communism by now

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 1 points 21 hours ago

Probably not, but we could have definitely have had some much cooler new sci fi universes, made directly and solely for the big screen. The James Cameron Avatar movies aren't the greatest, but damn every time there's some cool sci-fi ship in them I go "damn imagine if we had more of this and less bad star wars".

I like watching it because my kid likes watching it. If I didn't have a grade schooler in the house, I probably wouldn't have bothered. I think it largely succeeds at what it aims to do, which is be a kid's my first live action Star Wars media, but I don't have much praise for it beyond that.

I need to hear the Rob/Austin take before forming my own opinion, but I’m glad you like it!

I figured there would be more of us here, but there are a few!

Let’s goooo

[–] utopologist@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Sounds like Austin shares my distaste for child actors, so I will trust his full take

[–] Melonius@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I liked the first episode but really felt like they were trying to capture the same magic as star trek prodigy. But starwars disnified

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

So Prodigy was good?
