General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Israel planned to bomb US and UK targets in Egypt in a false flag called the Lavon Affair.

Israel tried to sink the USS Liberty (killing US citizens).

Israel stole Uranium from US Uranium stock piles when the US said they weren't allowed to have a nuclear program (eg. They started one anyway with stolen US Uranium).

Israel isn't some friend to the US. It never has been. Lashing out at the UK in defence of Netanyahu's war crimes is just part of the self-hatred America shows for its self in the name of Israel.

America - who soon under Trump may halt all support of Ukraine and leave Europe to fend for its self against Russia (but probably won't due to other powers that be).

The point is, America keeps threatening its European allies in the name of people doing war crimes (Putin and Netanyahu).... It's starting to look like; How you say - an axis of evil.

... self-hatred ...

We are talking about Lindsey Graham, after all.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

While I agree with your overall point I'm pretty sure most of us all understand that they didn't steal the uranium as much as they were allowed to steal the uranium. That's almost an Open Secret at this point.

Zionists also bombed the British King David Hotel. The group that carried out the attack, Irgun, later became Likud, Netanyahu's party.

Don't forget selling US technology to Russia.

I dunno why these chowder heads think they are the kind of people that will get raptured. "Oo I do lots of evil shitty things but I'm totally going to get chosen by a sky fairy who picks people for doing nice things."

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

They are mentally ill sociopaths.

It doesn't make sense because you're trying to ascribe logic where there is none.

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

who picks people for doing nice things

That's not what most evangelicals (and the rapture is at this point mostly only subscribed to in its usual sense by US evangelicals so far as I can tell) believe. It's all about the Jesus not the nice.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

You're quite right, supply side Jesus seems to have a bit of a different focus than classical nice guy Jesus..

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

"No-one is the villan of their own story."

They think they are doing more good than harm. It's fucked up, but it's still helpful to understand how they view the world. It makes it easier to predict and counter them.

To them, it's like you threatening to beat up the local priest, while on the way to a major aid drive, because he parked wrongly. They are stepping into stop you interrupting the Lords work! Of course they will be rewarded for that!

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hey, don't bring chowder into this. Chowder is delicious.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 1 points 10 months ago

Delicious but also not known for being particularly bright ..

Before or after the US crushes its own economy first?

[–] SirQuackTheDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

if I'm going down, I'm taking you with me.

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Too late, they already did it to themselves with Brexit.

[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Jokes on Trump. We like fucking up our economy.

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 25 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Very thoughtful to give Starmer an excuse for not doing something he was never going to do anyway.

[–] TheGrandNagus@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

He very publicly committed to doing just that, what are you talking about?

[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hi I've just teleported here from a neighboring timeline. How is it going, Earth-420chungus69?

...

Jesus Christ.

It's like, IF we are in a simulation... we are the trash-tv of generated content, bordering pulp.

[–] Philosofuel 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I always imagine future historians having so much fun learning about this period.

[–] Zementid@feddit.nl 2 points 10 months ago

If the billionaires club doesn't destroy or close source the data. Regarding the value, our Data is the one which wasn't tempered with (Ai).

So yes .. we are famous in the future! (Kind of)

[–] beebarfbadger@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Around the campfire in the flooded ruins.

[–] kbal@fedia.io 20 points 10 months ago

It's not as if many countries would've been eager to be the one that has to arrest him regardless of whatever ridiculous threats are uttered by Trumpists. Netanyahu will find himself very unwelcome almost everywhere in the world.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 17 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There’s no way the Yanks can hurt our economy any more than we can.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 4 points 10 months ago

There are three players that can hurt our economy. The UK, the US, and the EU.

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 16 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Starmer is a well-documented Zionist. There's no way old Huckleberry Graham would need to follow up on a threat like that.

[–] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 2 points 10 months ago

Be wary of Lindsey, you cross him and his MEMAW will git ya!

[–] sephallen@lemmy.ml 11 points 10 months ago

It's cute that this guy thinks he can crush the UK economy more than the Tories did for the past 14 years.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 9 points 10 months ago (2 children)

The latest figures I could find from August 2024 shows that USA imports slightly more from UK than vice versa. It is in balance when rounded to the nearest billion.

Any changes to this would backfire 1:1 on the US.

What's the connection between US/UK trade balance and Netanyahu anyway.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 6 points 10 months ago

But that billion would be more impactful to the UK economy over the US one due to their respective sizes.

Would be totally worth it though, not that it would happen.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What's the connection between US/UK trade balance and Netanyahu anyway.

This was said by an elected Senator from the United States of America. It doesn't have to make sense or follow any reasons. 😂

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It is school yard bullying: "Do what I say or I will punch you".

If UK obliges to that, he's just going to use the same threat over and over.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It is school yard bullying: "Do what I say or I will punch you".

It absolutely is. But they call it "Balance Of Power" in polite circles.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I also have a plan to crush UK economy: sit-back-and-enjoy
