Seems like a neat idea. Do you know if it's possible to embed loops videos in a Lemmy post? I just browsed the community a bit, and I think I would enjoy it more if I didn't have to click twice on every post.

FAQ:
Q: Why do I get a 404?
A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.
Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?
A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

That's a good question, I'll try embedding them. I know Loops is planning on Fediverse integration and I imagine at some point everything will gel nicely, but there's no ETA on that integration that I'm aware of.
Please just use !loops@midwest.social and not [!loops@midwest.social]()
I was told on another post that doing it this way works better for mbin users 🤷

No.
If you wanted to get the majority, you'd use the way I mentioned.
Or you can just have two links, one for lemmy (the way I've done it) and one the way you've done it for mbin/kbin users.
We should have joined force I'm the moderator at !loops@lemmy.world but it's cool to see loops get some more attention tho! :)
I could be wrong on this, but that looked like it was more about discussing Loops, the project. Seemed like would be annoying to spam it with lots of videos from loops
Well it's a new community, so there is no clear path for now, but I get what you're saying, i should have made a better description !
Based on some of the comments so far, some people really don't like the videos, so it's probably good to have separate communities for discussion of Loops vs posting loops. People can block this community and still subscribe to !loops@lemmy.world

Does it take a while to get the email after signing up? I tried to create an account. I find the tiktok experience interesting enough to try but was always put off by how intrusive their algorithm seemed.
It took me a few hours to get the email. I saw somewhere that they're sending out ~1 email/sec.
For better or worse, there's currently 0 algorithm. You can have any algorithm you want, as long as it's "Newest". I sort Lemmy like that anyways so it's great for me. No idea if they've got other algorithms planned.

Eh... Midwest. social is run by a power tripping disrespectful person.
I haven't had any negative interactions with him. I know over on this post about the doxxing of Nick Fuentes, he edited the post to add "Report all you want. This is not getting taken down. Fuck nazis.", but I see that as an advantage of the Fediverse vs Reddit. Instance admins can decide what their instance allows, instead of everyone needing to follow what's socially acceptable to advertisers.
