Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. - Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

This is something that really bothers me. You can't be liberal on the issues of abortion and climate change and also be supportive of conservative politicians who are completely opposed to those two things being important. You're basically just a liar.
Edit because of some comments: I agree that some aren't lying. Most are definitely convinced by the propaganda. But there's also people who are lying to themselves about it. That last one is what I was talking about. I'm gonna leave the original phrasing though because of the people directly addressing it.
They aren't lying, they were lied to by the media propaganda machine and didn't have time or care to look for any new information. They got firehose blasted by pro-Trump social media everywhere and likely thought he was a better choice than the "stupid woman".
a fair number of them, as is the case in any age group, just want the 'right people' hurt. i.e. they're racist, or anti-lgbtq; or perhaps they love the small arsenal they have 'collected', or an old book of folklore (or rather, the weekly interpretations of cherry-picked bits) more than they love any person.
but mostly, they were basically scammed. unchecked lies and far-right off the wall conspiracies pounded-in day after day after day have them brainwashed and programmed.
Young adults want to protect abortion rights.
GOP casts Propaganda.
Young adults became confused.
The young adults hurt themselves in their confusion.
hell of a way to learn first-hand that trump is a fucking con man
Will they learn though?
I'm hoping they'll be more amenable to admitting their fuck up than boomers. Pretty low bar though.
well a major part of the american mindset is that we never ever ever make mistakes, so....
No
Low information voters are easily confused, but also consider that polling doesn't capture cross sections very well. If 6 out of 10 can vote for the GOP, and 6 out of 10 support the right to abortion, then only 2 out of 10 need to be completely oblivious. It would still be true to say that a majority voted for Trump, and a majority support abortion rights. That doesn't mean it's the same majority.
I haven't looked at the data, but it wouldn't surprise me that 20% of people in any category are confused or out of touch.
Talk about an oxymoron.
~~oxy~~
Lol, wait until that lot finds out that republicans lie through their teeth about their merits
Conservatism always hurts the economy
I will wait and see what happens. If things go not bad over 4 years then at least damage is kept to a minimum.
If things go bad over 4 years, my hope is that it will be an important lesson for young people to learn, Trump will be a near comatose sack of bullcrap, and people will be innoculated from Trumpism and right-wing facism for a while.
If things go really bad over 4 years well, sucks but it was everything Democrats warned about and everything Trump projected on his opponents. Best you can do is smarten up, organize, get out and get heard.
Why do you keep saying 4 years? This is not a democracy anymore. If we do have elections, they will be just as fair as Russia's.
I know, I am still putting too much faith in the US as a whole. I know the Constitution only means things when it suits them (14th Amendment? What 14th Amendment, it's not in the Trump Bible) However I am spending the aftermath of America's own-goal to think about the ways they could potentially dig themselves out of it.
What percentage of Gen Z voted for Trump, though? Everyone seems focused on the election numbers as of they represent all voters when they don't.
