When this lawsuit is inevitably dropped or dismissed, I hope WB's very high-end lawyers countersue.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 1 points 26 seconds ago

Mark Robinson should sue himself for writing the messages.

Hey republicans, running batshit insane black people on the Republican ticket isn't going to work, because black people aren't morons who are going to vote for self hating, self described "black nazi's" just because they're black. Pass it on. Or don't. It's hilarious watching you make this mistake over and over.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 19 minutes ago

This is a beautiful comment. Thank you for that.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 53 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Oh, that'll get spicy.

If there's anything to this story, and fuck knows, there certainly is, the last thing Robinson wants is to get into a trial against an organization that has evidence and a soapbox big enough for a herd of elephants to trumpet from.

What a fucking moron.

He's going to learn real quick what discovery is and then probably cancel the suit.

It doesn't matter.

Nothing will happen before the election, and until then he can spin it as suing CNN for spreading lies or something, and get away with it with 0 penalty.

It's a mildly clever stalling tactic.

[–] Countess425@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

I wouldn't say zero penalty; his poll numbers are shit. They were before the story leaked, but nobody seems to be Teflon the way Trump is. He's possibly tanking North Carolina down ballot, and could even flip the state for Kamala. His political career is surely finished. It would have been before now if the GOP had their way, they tried really hard to get him to drop out.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 22 minutes ago

Although I do love that CNN dropped this bombshell within something like 18 hours of the deadline for him to drop out.

[–] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 7 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I’ve said this elsewhere but I expect the suit will be dropped after the election because he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. This is simply a desperate attempt at damage control as his campaign continues to tank.

Everyone remotely competent quit the Monday following CNN's story about Robinson's past internet activities came out. His campaign manager is now Jack Burkman, who you might know as Jacob Wohl's fellow idiot and long-time partner in crime. The two of them have made multiple comically inept attempts to frame public figures for fictitious sexual assaults, including in October 2018 against U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, in April 2019 against 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, and in April 2020 against White House Coronavirus Task Force member Anthony Fauci.

So it's not surprising he's convinced Robinson to file a frivolous lawsuit against CNN.

Can I sue Mark Robinson for self-identifying as a Black Nazi?

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 29 points 7 hours ago

Yes, keep screaming about it as loud as you can.

[–] mikezane@lemmy.world 26 points 7 hours ago

Idiot Nazi.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 17 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Wasn't he claiming they weren't his messages?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 21 minutes ago

He initially claimed it was AI. And when he was asked how faked messages could be put on archived web pages, he made a sort of "they have ways of doing these things" statement.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

I think the idea from the article was that all the info in the profile had been previously breached and leaked, so anyone could have made the profile

[–] TallonMetroid@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

The article doesn't make it sound like the direction he's actually taking, but he could potentially sue for defamation, since they're attributing the messages to him, which he denies is true, and the messages have had a pretty apparent negative effect on him. Seems like he's suing for leaking his PII instead though, so I guess he's doubling down on the notion that someone apparently went through a lot of effort to fake everything.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 9 points 6 hours ago

This will never go to discovery, else proving this perverts perviness. No, Clayton Bigsby just wants the “I’m fighting this” press coverage. GUARANTEED he will drop this suit right after the election.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago

Okay, Barbara.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 hours ago

I can't wait for discovery

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

My guy thinks he can sue a major media outlet into silence.

I mean, it did work for Twitter to get one of its advertisers back, so we'll see… 😅
