Exactly. Chris Christie still has a lot of sway with his Republican base.
Many Trump supporters do it because they are part of that herd.
They will follow the pack if momentum changes.

The votes of stupid people who think that if a monster endorses your candidate against a Kaiju, clearly the monster and your candidate have the same views.
So you are saying that there are a significant number of left leaning voters that are so stupid that they are both engaged enough to understand who Chris Christie is and do not understand that Donald Trump is out to destroy everything that they believe and hold dear.
I don’t buy it
To be fair, I listen to a lot of Republicans like Cassidy Hutchinson, Steve Schmidt , George Conway, Michael Cohen, Liz Cheney, John Kelly and The Bulwark because they are insiders who actually know what when on in the White House.

Oh I highly doubt that. If he loses, it’s open season on his criminal activity. And his list of criminal activities grows seemingly daily. He’ll be disqualified, or he’ll be in prison.

Again, that’s because he’s protected as a presidential candidate. If he loses- the gloves are off.
If you were right, he would have been in prison in 2022.
Even worse, the republicans will turn on him.
Unfortunately I don't think there was much there in the mental department to begin with and his base voted for him anyway in both 2016 and 2020.
At 78, Trump is now the oldest presidential candidate in American history. If elected, he would be 82 years old when he leaves the White House.
I'm sorry, did Biden's campaign not happen? I mean, he was in the race four months ago.
Biden was never an officially nominated candidate.
