How fucked up in the head do you need to be to make shit like that up? It's not even just an adult, which would be stupid enough, no, it's an education official.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 65 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I mean it’s not much different than

https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/misinformation/urban-myth-litter-boxes-schools-became-gop-talking-point-rcna51439

Make up some disinformation. Use it as a talking point to get people on your side and advance your goals

[–] cuibono@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I think falsely claiming preschoolers have rooms for masturbation or anything sex-related is still a tad worse than falsely claiming they shit or pee weirdly. They serve the same goal of attacking public schools, but one still just seems more fucked up than the other.

Conservatives generally have an astonishing skill at coming up with the weirdest bullshit to justify their hate of anyone progressive.

[–] HubertManne@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

considering their tendency to project im always worried its not made up.

Poland is very religious. Their politicians know that religious people are essentially brain damaged and will believe pretty much anything as long as it comes from someone they view as an authority figure (even if its proven wrong, they'll still stick with it). Raising children to be religious is child abuse.

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I think it's about the general view on masturbation. Like I guess some people in Poland would love to tell preschoolers that masturbation is wrong and shouldn't be done at all. If anyone teaches children it's ok, but they shouldn't do it in front of everyone, it's easy to imagine it leads to the idea of a masturbation room, which can easily cause outrage in Polích population despite the fact it's actually nothing wrong.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Reality is a team sport, to some people. Claims are not evaluated. They're simply accepted or rejected based on interpersonal trust.

They think you're the same way. They think that's all there is.

No better guardians of morality than people who fantasize about masturbation rooms for children.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 47 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, you've got to be a sick fuck to even come up with this shit.

She was prepared to show the reporter where she'd seen the claim online, but her phone was in the microwave, charging.

Any room can be a masturbation room if you're committed enough.

You know there's now a small bunch of people who believe this... All she had to do was say it once, and the damage was done.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 29 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And the evidence is "I heard it from a friend, you don't know them, but it's totally true".

[–] loobkoob@kbin.social 22 points 1 year ago

"I can't find a source because the government and [[[globalist]]] mainstream media is covering it up. Do your own research"

[–] library_napper@monyet.cc 53 points 1 year ago (4 children)

While I do appreciate having dedicated masturbation stations at work, I dont think elementary schools need them for the students

But I do think we should advance this discussion as a workplace perk

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 48 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That’s not what your cubicle is for, Frank. We can all see you and it’s gross.

[–] library_napper@monyet.cc 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Yeah Frank, last year we converted conference room 8D for this purpose.

Just go jerk off in the bathroom like a normal person.

[–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's really hard to tell if you're joking, because there are people who actually think that.

[–] library_napper@monyet.cc 6 points 1 year ago (11 children)

I used to work in a boogie tech office that converted a conference room to a nap and mediation room. It has artificial grass and lots of pillows.

While I do think it was a nice perk, I personally get more of a productivity boost from a quickie than a power nap. But everyone's different.

Fortunately I work from home, so I don't need a masturbation station at some shared office. But I do think it could be nice, though I can't see how to make it sanitary.

The remarks were made by Barbara Nowak, the education superintendent for Małopolska, a province of 3.4 million people in southern Poland centred around the city of Kraków. The national government appoints one such official in each of Poland’s 16 provinces, where they are tasked with overseeing schools.

Nowak, a controversial and outspoken figure, was asked in an interview with news website Wirtualna Polska about claims commonly made by her and other Polish conservatives that the World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking to “sexualise” children.

“The WHO outlines the aims to quickly interest young people in their bodies and in the pleasure of artificially aroused sexuality,” she answered. “These groups claim that the easiest way to relieve a small child’s emotions is through masturbation.”

“In Swedish preschools there are special rooms where the teacher goes with a child and masturbates them,” Nowak continued. “They then know that they can also masturbate on their own.”

you people are no longer allowed to make fun of america's crazy politicians

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

America's crazy polititians are a direct and indirect influence on polish ones.

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah but when you see a rise in broken, sociopathic politicians in one country, the response isn’t supposed to be “hold my Paczki and watch THIS”

[–] DeepFriedDresden@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

Counter argument, Russian interference and political undermining has a direct and indirect influence on global politics.

"Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics"."

[–] curiosityLynx@beehaw.org 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Correction: Everyone is still allowed to make fun of American's crazy politicians, there's just more non-American politicians in the pool to also make fun of

[–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is this where we realize that we're all just people, and people are crazy?

[–] RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm not a people. I am a sea cucumber.

We all import american bullshit, I saw some dumbas talking about trans people and Biden on tv. I live in a small Balkan shithole, but those our the issues we face here. It spilled over to the dumb shits, the reality based community is shrinking

It's less wacky politicians (though there undoubtedly are some that actually believe that) and more nationalist propaganda - showing Poland as an island of righteousness against the removed west or something. It's an attempt by the far-right Law and Justice Party to gain support via culture war and shocking people into disgust and hoping they back you based on that.

It works on my family, at least in part. 😕

To put the "official" in context, that woman is Barbara Nowak, the education curator for the Lesser Poland voivodeship - that is, the official directly responsible for the education system in entire region, and this particular region is one of the most densely inhabited.

[–] Omega_Haxors@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 year ago

Every right wing accusation is an admission of guilt. Euuuugggghh....

[–] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why even respond to such nonsense?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago

Or why respond seriously?

Just call the person that made the claim a sick and stupid freak and apologize to the people forced to work with her. Decorum should go out the window when shit like this is being slung around, this "we go high, they go low" shit is cringe.

[–] HowMany@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago

Exactly. Or as they're called in the Swedish Tongue - maSSturbatoriums. No such thing. Silly Polish people. Sweden waves its genitals in your general direction.

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

...Wait, why did they bring the Swedish flags out for this? Denying that our schools have masturbation rooms makes sense, making it a point of national pride that they don't is really, really weird.

[–] mar_k@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

stock photo for the article

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Nah, it was these three children and their mum that denied it.
