Some people think that it is (i'm not one of those people) but hey, maybe I'm wrong. I was also told a taco and a wrap are sandwiches. I also disagree

Thoughts? Don't turn this into some weird ass struggle session where someone gets banned it's not worth it

I disagree that open faced sandwiches are even sandwiches you need two slices of bread or bread like thing minimum

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago

i would argue that a sandwich requires something to be "sandwiched"

If this is not a sandwich to you I want no part in your tyrannical regime.

No, it's boiled potatoes on rye, served with radishes (An optional accrutement) and chives. You can add onions (Preferably either red or fried), pepper, mayonaoise or parsley if you want, but you've got a good thing going with the potato, rye, chives and a pinch of salt already

I'm gonna serve that shit to some college students someday

You should. It's pretty good, and having seen what you can do, i trust you to make a great spin in it.

that’s not part of the cube rule of food’s definition of toast, oddly enough.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Potatoes have starch, surely by that definition there are two starch layers, making it a sandwich

[–] lapis@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don’t think that counts, they’re more of an ingredient than a structural starch in this case

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The site used to illustrate the model cites croutons as such a starch, surely a layer of potatoes is as structural as the croutons in a salad.

[–] lapis@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

oh, yeah, I personally don’t vibe with the “nachos” category (which was added later), and think it’s just a weird way to describe a salad which includes starch.

but also, if you want to include the apocryphal cube food types, I think that would make the open-face potato sandwich more of a cake, or nachos upon a toast.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

not with that attitude!

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

don't be a cheapskate where's the other slice of bread?

[–] footfaults@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That looks dry as hell. Needs some sort of condiment

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

Traditionally the bread is buttered

[–] MaxOS@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

at least two slices of bread

[–] UmmmCheckPlease@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

Open faced sandwiches are just charcuterie served on an edible platter (aka big ol canapés)

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

If an open faced sandwich isn't a sandwich, then what is it?

[–] WrongOnTheInternet@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It's something on a slice of bread

The literal translation of that thing is "potato food"
