Ok fair enough, but I wouldn't have installed Linux if I had not seen it recommended.
I'm not a computer toucher, but I can follow written advice.
These sorts of posts always scold anyone giving out actual solutions just so being miserable can continue. This cultural thing almost has an end of history type vibe to it. It's also pretty hostile to divergent and often solution focused neurotypes.
Linux evangelism kinda makes sense, no one is spending billions on marketing and ads for it. I think Linux evangelists should ask about use cases first, instead of just posting a generic "use Linux".

That's the part that annoys me most. Wanna make it my problem? Then I'll actually try and solve it. If just wanna be mad go be mad alone or with someone who cares. People online are not required to care.
Yep. I get it. Kvetching helps when there's nothing you can do about the problem. But when solutions are available? No, I shouldn't have to listen to your complaining. Unless you want me to help you fix the problem.
Ya and of course personal relationships come into play with where exactly the boundaries are. I'm going to happily listen to my wife or kids complain more because I love them and know when they just wanna chat shit. Of course even there there's a limit where I'm like come on do x it'll help... For instance... My wife is now on linux
Yeah, same. I'll let my mum or my dad complain for hours about shit I could solve, because I know neither one will take any solutions from me specifically, and Dad usually just wants to think out loud to figure out a solution, and Mum usually just wants to get the complaints out with another woman (or close enough to one, at least, and since I'm the only one of her immediate family members who doesn't have shitloads of my own issues who'd be caught dead in a skirt, it doesn't matter what exactly I am), before asking my dad for an actual solution. My brother and I don't have that kind of relationship, but I'll still listen to him complain, because if he's complaining about someone else or an inanimate thing, it means he's talking to me in a way that isn't just insulting me and screaming at me and making demands.
But some rando I barely know? No, I'm not going to listen to complaining about something I never have to deal with and can recommend a solution for.
