"Internet safety". This is just the great east-west internet firewall dressed up as safety.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not some russia shilling tankie, but if this leads to completely separating cultures, what chance do we have of ever improving relations?
How did you come to that conclusion? Isn't it actually better to have more routes available? Decentralization is always a plus in my books at least, specially considering how easy it is to disrupt worldwide communication with a single point of failure
It's better for the network, sure.
This is about whether you want to connect a bunch of hostile bad actors onto the network.
Of course more routes are better, I've taken Cisco classes in the past, I'm just commenting on the packaging of "security".
It's only the way you describe if Russia decides to cut communication lines to the rest of the world a la North Korea. What exactly would be your proposal for us to stop Putin from doing this, because it's not anyone's decision but his.
I think it's more likely they'll take a China stance than a North Korea stance.
Although China uses a blacklist system. They only ban big/egregious players. Most Lemmy instances actually work in China, lol.
What about bombing "his" country?
Whataboutism at its finest. Nobody bombed Putin or had any inkling to until he invaded a sovereign nation he had sworn to defend and stole land and killed hundreds of thousands of people. So major crocodile tears there. This is all 100% on Putin.
Poor fucking Russia boo hoo
What are you talking about?
I propose we bomb russia (Ukraine is already doing it, Slava Ukraini! Go go!) and you cry whataboutism?
You must have misunderstood my intention.
Sorry, too many tankie encounters on here. I agree, Ukraine should have been bombing Russia since the beginning, at least they are on the right path now.
No problem! I definitely understand the trigger happines when it comes to tankies π
