Democratic socialism isnt a thing outside america (most other countries call them socdems) and even name itself betrays its rotten foundations - it calls into existence a „undemocratic“ socialism and implicitly signals its allegiance to „democracy“ aka capitalism. Don’t forget democracy is codeword for capitalism.
US 'democratic socialists' are more like feckless Euro electoral socialists, which we could also call social democrats if we wana be spicy but the US lacks the political sophistication for these tendencies to be formally separated
