But pterodactyl isn't a dinosaur...
Is he turning people into pterodactyls? Just because he is, possibly because of his own machinations, doesn't mean he's turning others into pterodactyls.
Maybe he's lashing out because someone else turned him into a pterosaur when he wanted to be a dinosaur.
Excuse me, good sir/madam. What?

Are there other animals in that category?
If it has or recently (evolutionarily speaking) had wings, it's a pterosaur; there are several that look close enough to pterodactyls that they get lumped together in media. 'pterosaur' is literally 'winged lizard'
That one that looks like a lizard with a giant sail on its back wasn't a dinosaur either.
