Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.
All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.
If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also xcancle.org (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.
Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.
Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.
Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.
Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

I dont even get what theyre trying to accomplish here. Like, obviously the right is trying to provoke a civil war, right? But what happens when nobody really takes the bait? Are we just going to have hundreds of troops twiddling their thumbs in the middle of chicago waiting for something to happen?
I think that's the problem they're running into. Much like the left, they want to think we're closer to a revolutionary moment than we are. Nobody is taking the bait. Charlie Kirk wasn't the beginning of the leftist uprising. They're going into these cities only to be met by people holding signs and dancing. The liberals in charge aren't doing much to resist them, just letting them take whoever. The cops aren't fed up enough to refuse orders. They can't seem to get a good series of crises rolling.
The only thing they can do is establish precedent, normalize it and wait for a crisis that will spark mass conflict. If it doesn't happen in the next 4 years they will have laid the groundwork for when it does. It also makes great content for the right wing media industry. All the podcasters, news, and TV shows get to talk about something and point towards some vague notion of progress towards defeating the enemy. They don't have to create or enact policy, just show videos of them terrorizing the enemy.
It really is wild how this huge bloc of the GOP seems to have earnestly forgotten that they have a symbiotic relationship with the Democratic party, that they're partners in a big game of bad cop/physical-manifestation-of-pure-evil-made-flesh cop and that the Democrats exist to launder all of the GOP's monstrous evil into a form that the public will begrudgingly accept while couping and shutting down every left wing movement that gains popular momentum.
They win either ways.
How?
They're going to do all that nazi shit without any reaistance. Forcible seizure of wealth or power from political opponents and undesirables, more segregation, more deportations, more deregulation, etc.
The violence serves the purpose of forcing policy in case of resistance. If there's no resistance, then the changes in policy are basically pushed through for free.
I see.
Things are bad but we haven't reached seizure of wealth of trumps enemies status yet although I can see how close we are.
We aren't seeing resistance because materially little has changed for the majority (white) population other than the job market sucks and grocery prices are high which also occurred under Biden admin.
It sucks but USians are famous for there apathy and "individualism"
The US was unironically about to join Germany in WW2 before Japan pulled a fucking hilarious own goal and decided to attack.
Yes the attack was in response to US actions but they were genuinely about to join the axis or, at best, let Germany have Europe lmao
The US was about to join Germany in ww2? Thats something I haven't heard before. Do you have a place where I can read up on this history?
