It's funny because the only reason Nazis are used as The Bad Guys is because it's settled, in the past, and pretty much everyone's okay with it. Using Nazis as your villains is sorta cowardly in this day and age because you're doing it at least in part to avoid pushback.

That said there is something singularly enjoyable about media where you just don't have to give a shit about the humanity of the villains, and it's okay to feel unbridled joy at their failures. Nazis as enemies gives us that. It's using Nazis as the go-to bad guys that's cowardly.
