Image is of the Freedom Band performing at the end of the Second National Congress of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, sourced from this article. The same article contains most of the information used in the preamble below.

A little over a week ago, the Socialist Movement of Ghana concluded its second National Delegates Congress in Aburi, gathering 300 delegates from across the country. There, they deepened their commitment to the working class of Ghana and committed to intensifying political education and organization at the grassroots. The SMG itself decided to not electorally contest the 2024 elections in Ghana, but still presented a manifesto, and nonetheless managed to get two SMG members parliamentary seats in the National Democratic Congress.

Anyway, back to the National Delegates Congress: the delegates agreed that the Western imperialist system is now under a profound crisis, in which the likely future is a heightening of brutality, chaos, and resource plundering - a future which must be resisted and organized against.

To summarize their various statements and condemnations:

  • Inside Ghana: a commitment to women's rights, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.
  • A condemnation of the resource plundering of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by imperialist powers.
  • A salute to the people of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, in their campaign against outside imperial control in the Sahel.
  • A condemnation of Morocco's illegal occupation of the Western Sahara, and a call for the UN to identify the independence of the Sahwari people.
  • A strong condemnation of Israel's genocidal atrocities and massive terrorist operations against nearby countries, and support for Palestinian independence.
  • Support for the people of Haiti against outside imperial domination.
  • A call for the end of the blockade on Cuba and their removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
  • Solidarity with Maduro and the people of Venezuela against the United States.
  • A rejection of all imperialist aggression and sanctions against Iran.
  • A condemnation of NATO's decades-long military expansion eastwards towards Russia, especially as it has now resulted in massive devastation and risks a third world war.
  • And finally, a commitment to Pan Africanism and international solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the world.

A platform I think we all can agree to!

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

If you have evidence of Zionist crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

The US-led Ukrainian peace negotiations were indeed a last ditch attempt at Minsk 3: freezing the war only to thaw it out a few years down the line. Russia didn't bite. The US recognizes that Ukraine will not survive another year, so the next few months are all about boosting Ukrainian confidence and morale. They will be squeezed for all they're worth in terms of weakening Russia, before being thrown to the wolves (or, bears).

Long-range strikes and Tomahawk missiles are the new thing. Doesn't really matter whether they get them or not. It's all about keeping them fighting and looking to the future for as long as possible.

I think the US wants Russia to be forced to conquer the entire country. Not only the battles would be costly. So would the occupation.

Would Russian victory and military occupation of Ukraine then constitute a defeat for US Empire and imperialism?

[–] WildWeezing420@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago

in the same way that Taliban victory in Afghanistan or Vietnamese winning in Vietnam constituted a "defeat" for US empire. The Empire doesn't actually have to ever "win" they just need to keep the wars happening abroad and not at home

I doubt it. Occupation of the entire nation of Ukraine would bleed Russia dry. If Russia tries, it will be the end of the Putin government at least

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Russia's goal isn't a total occupation of Ukraine and has never been.

[–] P1d40n3@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I agree. It's hard to imagine such a scenario, but that doesn't mean NATO can't dream. Or send even more weapons. Though it does beg the question of who will actually use those weapons with Ukraine in a demographic crisis. Would Russia offer peace after it liberates the oblasts they are aim for? What would that peace look like?

[–] cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 3 days ago

Though it does beg the question of who will actually use those weapons with Ukraine in a demographic crisis.

This. You can send as many weapons as you want but you can't wage a war without manpower. Who will be left to resist the Russians after this war of attrition has wiped out the most able, trained and motivated segment of the Ukrainian population? Right now all those who would and could engage in violent resistance against a potential Russian occupation are being wiped out methodically at the front line. The Kiev regime keeps sending them and the Russians keep killing them.

And how many have also fled overseas? How many people in Ukraine are tired of years of war and living under martial law and just want peace and normality, even if that means a Russian government? Most of them speak the same language, follow the same religion, and live in the same broader cultural space (media, literature, etc.) as the Russians. For many this won't even be felt as a foreign occupation. The Maidan regime's propaganda and the war have only temporarily suppressed Ukraine's natural Russian affinity.

And as for the extremists who will always be anti-Russia, those who would be willing to risk their life to fight Russia are already doing it and dying, and the cowards will flee and go to some EU country.

First of all the point is moot because, as the other response points out, the Russians are not interested in occupying all of Ukraine.

But even if they were, i don't think you are right. Not with the way that this war has been fought. If Russia had completely overwhelmed and occupied Ukraine in 2022 without too much fighting, then you would have a point. In such a case most of the fighting strength of Ukraine, its most combat capable, radicalized and motivated soldiers and potential guerilla fighters, would still be preserved and ready to cause immense issues for a potential Russian occupation. All the stay-behind networks, the prepared cells and caches and so on would be ready to deploy.

What we have seen instead is a long drawn out war of attrition with very slow and methodical advances on the part of Russia which has sapped Ukraine's manpower, fighting strength, morale and motivation to wage any kind of long term guerilla resistance after the war is over. Russia's slow pace of advance also allows them to methodically clear out potential pockets of resistance, saboteurs, etc. There is a reason why we see very little saboteur activity behind the lines in the new Russian former Ukrainian oblasts.

No, when this is finished Ukraine as a nation will be spent. Unfortunately that is the grim reality. Everyone who would have been willing and able to fight a Russian occupation will either be dead or have fled to Europe. And the remaining population will be completely sick and tired of war and conflict and will just want to live normal lives in peace, and Russia can absolutely provide that normality and stability.

Yes, the West will still try to sporadically infiltrate sabotage groups and agitators but if you follow Russian news you will know the Russians have gotten pretty good at finding and arresting these people. Occasionally some slip through but not enough to be a real threat. Their terrorist attacks only increase the determination in the Russian public, and if those kinds of attacks start happening in a Russian occupied Ukraine this will primarily harm Ukrainians and turn the Ukrainian population against these attackers more than against the Russians.

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago

i dont think Ukraine will be occupied for very long.

Zelensky isn't as popular as he seems, and there is is more than enough Ukrainian support for placating Russia in return for an end to 3 years of bitter conflict. Outside of Russian strongholds like DPR/LPR they can just leave Ukraine weak enough politically to keep the successor govt paralysed on Western alignment.
