Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

Ngl when I heard the term performative male I was like "oh no is that me" scared before I realized who gives a fuck and wait is this just the word hipster rebranded? This whole if you do this your fake and cringe gets on my nerves I'm cringe and got no game and I can't help it. Hearing it from left/progressive leaning channels I see doesn't help

It’s like white knight or male feminist rebranded. And idk, this stuff always takes on too many assumptions about the person’s intentions. Like I agree performative feminism from men is bad if it’s only to get laid, but how do you know that’s the case? It’s basically a pseudowoke way to find a way to be judgemental about people you barely know.

Yeah it all feels like policing how people can act or be, more I think about it feels like a splicing of hipster and simp. Idk people demand being authentic but when being authentic is annoying or weird then it's time to conform

It's like the whole virtue signaling thing, sure in the abstract I can imagine somebody saying they support x or y simply because they think saying that gives them clout, but I think the overwhelming majority of people generally believe the things they say.

but I think the overwhelming majority of people generally believe the things they say

Only true of people who aren't politicians, and when scratched average people often change their minds too. Virtue signalling is real, it's just almost always done by the people who like to complain about it. Even the term "virtue signalling" is often virtue signalling, they don't actually care about it at all, it's just something that tells everyone that they're on the right side of whatever "culture war".

synthesis of hipster discourse & softboy misogynist discourse i think. im safe b/c i will never wear baggie pants and my adhd is too bad for me to read in public (feminist authors or otherwise).

I've been reading a lot in public but mostly because my phone battery dies. My pants are ok but could be better

Performative male is just the new version of guys being mad men are dressing to attract women and not to impress other men.

The math behind it is deeply fraught. I can appreciate wanting to dress to impress other men, but if that is your primary focus that feels weird to me.
