I mean, I have every bit of respect for soldiers. They volunteer to serve in the military as tools of the government.

It is the government that actively exploits people in poverty, people in dire situations, and people who have no better alternatives. They work to make sure that there are sufficient quantities of people like that willing to sign their lives away for three squares and a glorious purpose.

The military as an organization, as an arm of the government, is only as good and as righteous and as honorable as the people in charge of it, so it's been a really long time since the military has been deserving of respect. Soldiers, marines, airmen, sailors, they have earned respect for their willingness to sacrifice. But when your commander in chief gives an illegal order, like to deploy to Portland and hunt down protestors, then it is your duty to this country to disobey such an order.

If they don't, then they are no longer on our side of the war.
