This has no chance of surviving court. ~~There are currently 730,000 H1B visa holders in the US. At some point, they have to leave and renew their visa. The cost of H1B renewal to companies, hospitals and universities alone would be 0.73 TRILLION dolarydoos. You are asking tech companies to pay 10% of the whole federal budget to support their workers. JP Morgan whole market cap, including assets is less than 0.7 trillion.~~
EDIT: fucked up my math. It'll cost companies, hospitals, and universities 73 billion a year. Still no chance of surviving court.
If they make it large and make it hurt, but not unreasonable like $2k per person it might be more believeable and has more chance to stay. $100k is comical, they missed the mark by a couple of zeros. Deeply unserious.
how do you pretend like you want companies to pay the workers more without actually paying the workers more? $100k into trump's gullet, sir.
isn't is 73 billion (0.073 trillion)?
You're right, apologies bad math lol. Still it doesn't make sense because the average H1B salary is $120k, and people are not going to take $100k pay cut to stay in the US.
