I don't like being a tinfoil hat guy, but I can't help wondering who this benefits the most. Sure seems like the right is capitalizing on this very quickly.

Other countries could be involved, it could just be a crazy person with a gun, it could be someone who hated his hateful messaging. We don't know.

How about we minimally figure out what actually happened before honoring a podcaster, who got killed, like he is a war hero?

It's reasonable to expect that the conservatives have expected a significant shooting of a right-wing figure was inevitable in the US, and had strategies discussed beforehand to capitalise on the occasion. No need for tinfoil hats.

No strategies even necessary, they are all on board with the fanaticism. They don't even need martyrs, they demonize the left constantly, it's like with narcissists- they accuse you of shit constantly and feverishly, and the one time you actually do happen to be guilty of something that is judgment day and proof of everything else they made up about you.

It's how witch processes go, it's how holocausts go, it's how fascism always goes.

How good a shot was it?

The guy who went for trump took a number of shots and missed (mostly). I don't know enough about guns to understand how hard it was to one shot CK from the distance he was with a rifle.

I've heard they'd at least have needed an hour of practice.

[–] tomiant@programming.dev 1 points 2 days ago

That's dumb. That was a decent distance, people make it sound like it's some super simple shot. You'd need more practice than "an hour"...

I was thinking that the other day. The GOP are talking about ramping up the violence. This will lead to martial law. This is the final step in project 2025 before destroying democracy in America.
