the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.

The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.

Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Happy for you. I hope my relationship with my ex still exists (haven't talked in a couple weeks) and is able to reach a similar place.

it's taken a while, and i did more for myself by not keeping no contact, but she eventually shared with me that "it's love poured out on dry earth" i needed to take love for myself. That's the difficultly of the last year. It would make loving me difficult, draining. I dont disagree. I've already looked into myself, but i see what she means.

For me I take it that I need to set goals, something to work towards to achieve. I took too long and grew listless, and it meant her love no longer had a vessel to hold it. Maybe if I get on this I can turn things around, she can see a future, but that only comes when she can see it. I cant do more than make myself better.

I think i've broken through the worst of it. and funny enough it was by not giving into my isolation, to what weird habits they brought me. I need to remember that there are other people in my future too. She tends to try and remain friends with the people in her life that even hurt her, that bodes well for me. Unless she meets someone and they're like everything i'm working towards, then i'll understand truly that one quote that "Hell is when the person you are meets the person you could've been."
