the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.
The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.
Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

I received the 10 dollar prescription glasses I bought from AliExpress just from sheer curiosity today. They feel incredibly cheap, light and plastic-y but dang, they actually work. Nice to have as a backup
Might get cheap sunglasses next
Fuck perhaps I should order from there. I gotta restrict myself to a tight budget and Zenni is still a bit expensive for me. And none of their frames are big and nerdy enough for me
The brand I picked was Zenottic, which seems to be a fairly known quantity when it comes to AliExpress glasses. There's other ones too, like BlueMoky. You might not be able to get glasses this cheap right now- the glasses I got usually cost about 25-30 dollars but I lucked out with a big coin discount. I'd been keeping an eye on AliExpress glasses for a while now and this was the best deal I've seen so far. I personally wouldn't have picked these specific frames under normal circumstances, but I just wanted to see if AE glasses were a viable option so I wasn't too concerned with style and just went with whatever was cheapest.
Also note that things like lens index, how strong your prescription is, etc. can have a big impact on the price. For example, I played around with different options while making my order and noticed that going from 1.61 to 1.67 basically doubled the price, not that 18 bucks is a whole lot for glasses either.
