the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.
The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.
Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Can't sleep tonight, today has been so stressful
Rant
So the new job is... a lot. I'm gonna be working 6 days a week, probably around 40-60 hours a week. And I've never done a sales job before. I haven't used my public speaking skills since I was a debater in high school, so I'm really out of practice. I had to memorize a pitch today, and I was practicing it in the mirror and I was so thrown off looking at my own body language. I was doing what I was told to do by my manager and it just looked odd on me?Anyways, there's that old shoplifting warrant I had coming to bite me in the ass, gotta get it cleared this week and it's stressing me out. I put down a down payment on a lawyer who should be able to help me out, he seemed pretty knowledgeable about where my case is happening on the phone. But I'm paying for pretty much the cost of a cheap car on affirm to get his services. Oh well, still cheaper than bail.
I also had many friends send me concerning messages, and there wasn't much I could do but support them vocally. I felt bad for not being able to do more. At least my housemates hyped me up when I talked to them about it. They told me that I'm their biggest supporter oftentimes and apparently talking with me is all anybody really ever needs because I'll just automatically do whatever I can do to help them afterwards. I've gone really hard for these motherfucker, so it was nice getting some acknowledgements from them that my efforts aren't just taken for granted.
unsolicited advice
If you havent put that money down for a lawyer yet, have you checked to see if you have any kind of legal aid agency around? They often do expungement clinics and such and yoi can get that done for free. If there is a law school near you the likelihood of having one is higher tooI checked legal aid and nothing would be quick enough. I need this settled in the next week or two. Plus all the legal aid around me here is civil only.
Fiddle sticks! Well I hope you can get it handled and that you settle in to the job well
So far the job has been good, but it's definitely a lot. I managed to get a donation today, essentially stumbled my way into it, but it was good to do. Everybody at the office likes me a lot so far because I'm taking this job extremely seriously. Apparently not many people make a sale on their first day on the field
