the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.

The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.

Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Knowing that next time Im at work I'll be teaching a 17 year old how to kitchen as opposed to finding out our new dishwasher is 40 years younger than the previous on when I showed up to work had led to me working on some strats. Mostly in regards to making her feel less nervous. She's in grade 12 and works 2 nights a week...i wish the chef had hired someone full time cause we need it, but it is what it is. Im just used to training grown ups who have had jobs before. She did a fantastic job on her first day, she was better with the pizza paddle than I was on day one. Her issue was she kept asking me if each pizza was done, I said her judgements has been great so far and I trust it, if in doubt take it out early cause it can always go back in. She fucking killed it but I could tell she was scared as hell to screw up the whole time. Her dish technique was bad where she wasnt letting the machine handle the work and scrubbing each dish. I think I have a curriculum figured out for both, it's just a mentality shift when you're used to school, failure is not only an option but a great way to learn and everyone around her has a decade or more of kitchen and at least 2 years at this place, we are crazy good at the job and we can whip together a replacement for anything that gets fucked up in no time. So far there hasn't been any mistakes and that is great but I can tell she's scared of one so id almost like to see her fuck up do she can know for sure its not a big deal. She has been killing it for the most part tho, I was soooo much worse at that age, I didn't give any effort at all and stole money from the till
