the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.

The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran's Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.

Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any "hope for compromise" between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration's survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Well the new job committed some serious cringe today. I was shown a Jordan Belfort video for training. But I also got some (kind of) good news. This is a really competitive sales job, so I either get fired or get promoted in 6 weeks. And I also get fired if I'm not making a grand a week in sales. So this is my first shot I've had to be above the poverty line and getting my finances together in a long time. This job is gonna push my autism to its limits but at this point I'm dedicated to getting moved out of state. If I can pull this off, I'll be making 5k a week and living in Portland, I could get so many of my friends out of this increasingly dangerous state.

Personal reflectionAt one point they did a grindset shout-out to how much everybody made in a day at their peek for the previous week, talking about the material things that they were able to do with the money they got, and I got way too into it. People buying 100k cars in cash, taking their entire family on vacations I could never imagine right now, buying houses with 50 percent down payments. Now I don't want a 100k car, but it's hard not to want the financial stability to not have to finance a car on my ruined credit, not living paycheck to paycheck, going days without eating or without my psych meds. I haven't bought myself any "treats", new (or used) clothes in years and I'm having to fight my instinct of going all in on the grindset mentality that the rest of the office has. Wanting financial stability doesn't make me feel bad, but even temporarily buying into this office culture is making me feel like shit.
