As a long-time gun owner, advocate, and trainer, I've been telling people on the 'Left' that the neolib Dem anti-gun stance is bad in our country.
We are not a high-trust society. We do not have an egalitarian government. We have already had one civil war over some Americans believing themselves intrinsically superior to others, to the point they viewed them as property. Even that war only applied to men, as it took another hundred or so years for women to even be allowed to have their own bank account.
Like it or not, political power (and therefore rights) grows out of the barrel of a gun, and as Huey P. Newton astutely observed
The fact that conservatives are now trying to take guns away from trans people should remove any doubt left that the 2A is about asserting your rights, especially your right to life.
