What is the purpose of AI generated images? When it comes to LLMs I can sort of understand them as Siri was popular long before AI, but what function does AI generated images fill in a normal person's life?

Pretty much everyone at the DnD tables I frequent is in love with slop for their characters. Or environments. I shudder. "No it's not too bad, look at this". Of course it's not all too awful looking, that's why AI keeps removing artists of jobs. But people using AI for quick images of their characters don't directly affect this, they don't care about this, or understand any of it. As an artist I can see the convenience for them, and if it wasn't for the upheaval AI is causing, the morals behind it and who profits, I wouldn't have a problem with people using it in this way.

Fuck, that's depressing. In a setting as creative, authentic, and human as D&D, people are acquiescing to chatbots? Weird.

Becoming an artist or illustrator is hard. It needs passion and dedication. You need to be able to not only imagine your character but use time and effort to make them appear on a blank canvas.

Many people lack time and/or talent to draw their alter ego. Today everything has to be perfect. A pencil sketch is not enough.

I can somewhat understand the urge. People have shitty lifes with shitty jobs. DnD is some sort of short time escape. They like their characters and story to become as visually appealing as possible.

Yeah, its sad. I see it in my friend group too. Me and 1 other person are the only ones that feel grossed out by it. I just dont understand the fascination people have but I guess we are all monke and this is the new shiny thing people think is cool.

Anything you'd normally google an image for. You want a background or an icon or an image for a character. Anything a business would want to pay someone for, logos, branding etc. People who lack artistic skills and want the easy way to get an idea "on paper". And of course porn

As is tradition.

Hmmm, I understand. I think I'm just a little strange as I never really use images for projects, and if I search for images I need inspiration, something AI can't do as it just gives what I ask.

You could either commission from an artist or ask your computer to make an image of Futa-Sonic getting pegged by Darkwing Duck.

Never need to hire a graphic designer?

Avoiding to Google, novelty just enough to keep users in the ecosystem another 3 minutes on average.

Remove the damage from the items you’re hawking on Craigslistzuckmarketplace until the buyer’s driven an hour and it’s too late
