My wife has to remind me often to eat food because I just forget.
Ironically just started taking Adderall for ADHD and a common side effect is that it kills your appetite and people forget to eat.
Some people I know have found it helpful to treat their medication as effectively having the requirement of "take with or after food" because of this problem. If you find that you keep slipping up and forgetting, this might be a strategy to try.
Alternatively, if you're someone who benefits from setting alarms, you could try using that as a safety net. For example, If I took my medication and started my day at 8am, I'd probably set my alarm for 4pm — much later than that, and I'd be at risk of headaches or fatigue. The ideal time gap will probably vary person to person though.
Apologies for the unsolicited advice when you were likely just trying to relate to others. In any case, hard relate.
These are great tips. I generally don’t take long term medication other than allergy pills, which don’t have side effects like this and I’m very new to Adderall, so this is very helpful.
I always have an alarm set to take my evening meds. I will snooze the alarm until I finally take them.
Too many times I have shut off the alarm thinking I will take them soon and didn't. That ruins my sleep and makes the next day weird until I realize what happened.
I had to stop methylphenidate as I forget to eat or don’t have an appetite at the best of times and they just wrecked it even more, not to mention sweating profusely whilst sat at my desk.
I have found more structure in doing lots of physical activities outside of work so I’m tired at night. Now I do procrastinate if it’s a rest day and I want to play games but just end up scrolling YouTube instead.
