From what I get from talking to some friends in Canada, like 80% of Canadian national identity is based on the fact that they're not the US. "At least we're not as bad as the Americans" is a thought-terminating cliche that sees a lot of use, to hear them tell it.
We focus on the differences between us and Americans because otherwise we would just be low tier Americans lol
No, I do not understand how people reconcile that with the fact that we act like Americans in every meaningful way.
